SAN DIEGO (AP) -- A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he slammed his car head-on into a group of motorcycle riders celebrating their club's 10th anniversary, killing four motorcyclists and his companion, authorities said Sunday.
The driver, Carlos Rodriguez Bobadilla, was among six people injured in Saturday's crash on a remote desert highway, said California Highway Patrol Officer DeeAnn Goudie.

Poor guy was just driving the drunken cars that Americans won’t drive.
To the right, then overcorrecting to the left, then still traveling 60 mph at impact. What was his speed before swerving 80-90+?
Apparently the bikers were blocking his path to citizenship.
If the shoulder is not paved just as well as the lane, driving onto it at any speed above 20-30 mph is asking for trouble. If he did that at 60 mph or 90 mph the end result would be probably the same - complete loss of control.
But a sober driver, caught in such a situation, would have reacted faster, probably wouldn't be driving too fast, and perhaps would be able to slow down enough to enter the right shoulder and stay there.
Five hours after something like that there would alcohol on my breath also. Where was he during those five hours. Was there alcohol on his breath at the scene of the accident?

Usually IMO if you can smell the odor of old booze it is being excreted through the skin pores/sweating it out.
I have smelled that to many times to count on people in public.
Detox smell.
Whatever this is going to be a tough one and too many lives lost.
The attitude of the biker towards the Mexican was (I can’t think of the appropriate word) very fill in blank (forgiving? Understanding?)
And it will be impossible IMO to prove if booze played a part in how he handled his vehicle that resulted in mayhem.
Gonna be a tough trial.
Hope they find the Gold car who witnesses claim initiated the whole mess.

CHP said Ramirez smelled of alcohol hours after the collision. Clearly Ramirez was impaired by alcohol, should have never been on the road, and was impaired to the point where he lost control of his vehicle when all he had to do was pull to the right shoulder...
Instead he lost total control, swerved back left, crossing the center line, killing 4 motorcyclist.

yes, apparently he was legally in the country and he was just a few miles from the border. What really has me confused is they didn´t smell any alcohol at the scene nor suspect him of anything until five hours later...how do you suddenly smell alcohol five hours later and test someone? It seems he could have drank after the accident because of what he just went through...who wouldn´t want a stiff one after all that mess? The accident wasn´t his fault according to witnesses..it was some idiot in a gold Honda..I can´t believe that no one went after the Honda.
Nope, it doesn´t seem he is illegal..he LIVES in Mexico..he was in the US just miles from the border..lots of folks who live in Mexicali have border pass cards..and he drove across the border in his car..not likely he would be illegal.
