I don’t hate Palin at all, but she got outsmarted politically here, and in doing so, lost a bit of her mojo.

Turns out that dividing Alaskan GOP by backing Miller over Murkowski may have done more harm than good.

Really? That is ridiculous. The AK Democrats came out hard versus Murkowski.

"So, will she be a registered Independent and caucus with the Democrats?"

No. She will caucus with the Republicans and then report any findings to the democrats in the tradition of Arlen Specter.

“Tea Party only believes in the “will of the people” when their candidate wins. Otherwise, there must be fraud or a conspiracy afoot or something...”

That’s why I don’t fall for the populist trap they’ve set for themselves. I’m a conservative republican and not a conservative democrat (small caps intended).

The ballot count has been done under the auspices of a judge, so.... ask the judge.

Were the military votes counted yet?

The article says: Murkowski leads by ~10,000 votes. Minus 8153 votes that are disputed. So she has a definite lead of ~1,800 votes.

IIRC correctly the bulk of the military vote arrived in time, so those are already counted among the absentee ballots. There are 700 votes left to count, those are most likely the last outstanding military votes.

So even if those are 100% for Miller, Murky will win by ~1,000 on undisputed ballots alone.

“The same Joe Miller who spoke admiringly of how EAST GERMANY enforced their border??!!!”

He seemed like a smart and straight guy until he made that boneheaded remark.
We need Senatorial candidates with political experience not simply because they need it to do their jobs effectively but because we need to know if they are kooky or not.

“I wonder if Mike Castle, who thought about a write-in campaign too after losing the Delaware primary, could have pulled it off as well and denied Chris Coons?”

Alaska’s rules may be more favorable to write-ins.

“Makes no difference. Anyone could spend one hour researching the candidates and their stance on the issues and see that Miller was far superior to Murkowski. Those who voted for Murkowski, both Republican and Democrat, did not want to see a conservative representing them.”

Voters don’t vote for checklists on paper. They vote for Senators.

Murkowski got 92,715 unchallenged write-in votes compared to Miller’s 90,448 election day, absentee, write-in total. There were another 8,153 challenged ballots but counted for Murkowski. So in effect she had enough votes without counting any of the challenged ballots. Miller had a representative at each count table to review the ballots and challenge them where it was deemed appropriate.

She didn’t get outsmarted......the Miller campaign was poor and in fact they separated themselves from her which was a poor choice, this had to do with Lisa promising federal funds and pork which is not outsmarting anybody but just using fear that Joe was going to pull the plug on earmarks

Correct. It is not Sarah’s responsibility to get Miller elected, it is Miller’s....Her endorsement won Miller the primary. But his kooky ways and general lack of discipline did him in. I don’t even understand how he got away with handcuffing the journo. without a lawsuit. No doubt, miller has suffered much greater scrutiny than the cow, but the journalist thing was ridiculous.

I am sure there are software programs that could do that. Just scan each ballot and see if there are any suspicious matches.

Everyone should shun Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski as a discussing excuses for a human being.

What she did to win this election is demonstrate just how completely corrupt and power hungry she is. Let no man treat her as a human, but instead look upon her with contempt for the office she took out of pure greed for power.

Look, people won’t want to admit it, but Murkowski actually saved this seat for Republicans. I have no doubt that had it been a choice between Miller and McAdams, Alaskans would have chosen McAdams. There are more registered independents in Alaska than Republicans, and they were turned off by Joe’s horrible campaign, major gaffes, and unpleasant personal revelations. (How can someone run as a fiscally responsible candidate when they have $35,000 in credit card debt alone?) Let’s face it — this was a year that a true conservative candidate *could* have won in Alaska, but Joe proved that he definitely wasn’t that candidate.
