The House Republican Steering Committee selected Rep. Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) on Tuesday as the next chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, while Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) will be the next chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
The two were among the slate of new committee chairs elected by the 34-member committee, according to House GOP aides. The full House Republican Conference is slated to vote Wednesday on whether to ratify the panel's recommendations, a step that is largely a formality.
Rogers bested Reps. Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.) and Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) to win the appropriations spot. Kingston had been a favorite of tea party groups but signaled Monday that he had not won the support of GOP leaders.

If the new Tea Party electees have half a set of family jewels, they’ll band together to announce that they reject any elections for anything until they’re on board.

I don’t need or want the gubmint telling me I can’t buy squiggly bulbs.
If he wants to do something useful, he could pen a requirement that ALL bulbs sold HAVE to have their output in lumens. Right now the rules must have been altered to allow LED bulbs (which I like fine, but only for flashlights thus far) to be sold at outrageous prices with no or very little information as to how much illumination that actually give.
Any place to get a list of the 34 committee members? It would be great to know who to not support come 2012.
We need to build our own personal ark and let this beast collapse, the RNC has no intentions or any idea on what we want for a fix.

I think he is right. We need to throw everyone out. Start all over and get term limits. 8 years, same as President. These career politicians are nothing more than criminals.
Agreed but take the time to let them know in post 81 so they won’t be so shocked when they are given the pink slip.
Both of these bozos, and the establishment hacks in the Republican leadership need Tea Party primary challenges in the next election. I will open my wallet to any genuine conservatives who run against them.
Good question.
The RINO-globalists of the GOP are still colluding with the RATS on committees.
Ohhhh, no no no no no. I don’t think that selecting committee chairs via a 34 member “Republican Steering Committee” is acceptable. If the tea party folks aren’t about Reforming Congress, then I don’t think this is going to work out folks.
Upton has got to go. And the leaders who put him there. This is simply intolerable.
*IF* the TPers remember that their job is not to go along and get along, and they vote against all of this unacceptable BS, they will throw a monkey wrench into the collaborateur machine. They will also start getting tossed bones and then red meat. They need to come out swinging right away and say, we don’t care how it’s always been done. That is not what we are here for.
That’s clear just from the fact that we keep having to pressure them over amnesty instead of being able to rely on them to do the right thing.
Normal light bulbs forever!
We can make the lives of elitists, especially House elitists, absolutely miserable if we want to.
Remember in November...2012! Vote out the incumbents. It really is time for a powerful truly fiscally and socially conservative party.
what do they have to get? when they mess up, they still get voted back in... it’s time for serious term limits.
I am very happy for what we achieved here in republicans taking back state government, but I am wary of Priebus becoming RNC chair. He's no different from Steele, in my opinion.
