Hayek’s involvement with women’s issues has distinguished her in Hollywood. Her advocacy includes promoting awareness programs about violence against women and on the rising discrimination against undocumented workers

Spoiled brat!!!

discrimination against undocumented workers

I don't like discrimination at all but, what is she whining about? Nobody is forcing these people to come here or to stay here. They are breaking the law and it would appear that now it's the norm for many of them to slip across our borders, steal ss cards, trash the border they come across. Bringing with them diseases that we don't have here but do now, drugs and who knows what else.

It must be noted however, without her there would not be California. It might still be Spanish

Is it to late to give it back?

In many countries its a felony for a foreigner to be involved in politics in any way.

Including Mexico.

When she got here, did she do the work to get herself naturalized, or did she just sit back and demand “amnesty”?

“I had to endure the worst time of all in terms of racial discrimination in Hollywood when I first started out,” Hayek said in the interview. “It was inconceivable to American directors and producers that a Mexican woman could have a lead role.”

This from a woman whose only talent is her chest.

The article doesn't say, but apparently she got in line and became legal.

Yes, however, Hayek is obviously part-Spanish in her background.

That is not what we are getting with illegals, for the most part - the Mexicans are basically deporting all the natives (no Spanish genes) such as Mayans and Aztecs etc. that they can, with limited 6th-grade or lower education and various family or societal dysfunctions.

Salma Hayek is in no way representative of the illegals that show up in America.

She does say she came here illegally, but "only for a short time", which seems to imply that she did become a naturalized citizen, since she's still here.

I don't have a problem with people that wnat to come here and become American citizens. The problem is the ones who come here and demand to be granted the privileges of citizenship, without any effort on their part or intent to shoulder the responsibilities of citizenship.

I read she was naturlized. I remember reading that when Cesar Millan applied for citizenship and was naturalized (he came here illegally as well) he had to pay thousands in fines in order to apply. I imagine Hayek did too.

My husband was naturlized and under normal circumstances (i.e. legally) it doesn’t cost very much. But if you declare you entered illegally, then apply, there are huge fines. I’ve read that there is a ban imposed (you have to return to your home country and wait a specified time) on those who entered illegally and then try to get citizenship, but somehow it must be waived for “celebrities.” Or maybe it’s a new law and these folks were naturalized before it took effect.

She certainly hot, but now she’s a hot criminal.

From what I have always understood, Salma is not an ethnic Mexican. Her ancestry is Lebanese, like the wealthiest man in the world, Carlos Slim, (not his real last name) who is also technically "Mexican".

So it's not like she was a squat, illiterate peasant forced to pick my celery.

but I would let her pick my lettuce anyway, so I could look down her peasant dress.

Raised in a wealthy, devoutly Roman Catholic family, she was sent to the Academy of the Sacred Heart, Grand Coteau, Louisiana, at the age of twelve.

She attended college in Mexico City, where she studied International Relations at the Universidad Iberoamericana.

Doesn't sound like your regular border jumper to me.

She could easily come in the front door.

In that case, I would tax Selma Hayek.

And I suspect she would tax me!
