I am not 100% certain that I’d bet on B2 and F22 being able to elude Russian detectors. Wasn’t there a system called ‘Topaz’ that could defeat stealth?

Yes and no. Like any radar it can pick up a stealth aircraft. Stealth aircraft are not after all invisible, just hard to see. It is used on the SU-27s and an updated version on the SU-30MKs Venezuela having 24 of the latter.

The problem is you get a lot of false alarms. It is useful as a fighter radar since you know there is an attack on the way. But as an early warning system it would be nearly useless because of all the false positives.

Again a reason not to give a lot of advanced warning of the strike. The best way to defeat the Topaz radar is to have the SU-30MKVs on the ground and their pilots in bed when the first bomb goes off.
