Jesse Jackson calls for radical reordering of nation's economy

While appearing on MSNBC's The Ed Show, civil rights leader Jesse Jackson called for a "radical reordering" of the nation's economy because, as he put it, "those, the very top are drowning in wealth. It’s paper-driven not even productivity-driven."

He also called on the President to go to Congress and push for a "revived war on poverty".

In short, he wants even more policies designed to redistribute wealth, despite the fact that most voters rejected the idea in November.

Since President Johnson began the "War on Poverty" in the 1960's, nearly $16 trillion (in inflation-adjusted 2008 dollars) has been spent on means-tested welfare programs, according to a 2009 report at the Heritage Foundation, far outstripping the cost of all other wars in American history by nearly $10 trillion.

More is spent on welfare and programs to aid the poor than on national defense, and Heritage reports "means-tested welfare or aid to poor and low-income persons is now the third most expensive government function", ranking below Social Security, Medicare and education.

But this, according to Jackson, is not enough. Jackson agreed with the host that billions needed to be stripped from defense and other government programs and diverted to the poor.

According to the Congressional Research Service, over $200 billion more was allocated for welfare in FY 2010 alone than President Bush spent on the Iraq war during his entire presidency.

Time to start the riots and general violence since that “forty years of democrat rule” thing didn't work out. It's back to the race riots every time Congress cuts a program “critical” to buying fascist votes each election.

Poor Jesse, he doesn't understand that he's not even a phart in a hurricane anymore and won't ever be again unless he can deliver on his promise to castrate Barry the way he promised he would. The pals of Barry will be the ones calling for violence and getting the PR as “important spokesmen”, not Jesse and the old school pickpockets. Barry moved way beyond just picking pockets and he doesn't intend to let things slide back to the level of just corrupting and manipulating the system instead of taking it over.

Gee Jesse why not call what you are preaching what it is ...socialism. You want redistribution of wealth so that all a “equal” and of course that means the government will own the means of production. Seems like this Marxist idea has been tried before and has been such a failure that even hard core Communists like the Castro brothers are now saying it doesn’t work.

This country is barreling headlong towards Socialism (the the very least) and Communism (at the worst).

We will be the last country in the world to learn that socialism doesn't work.

To be honest, what did the “poor” do to deserve the money?

What Jackson is actually angling for is the handing out of money to his African-American constituency - which is something we’ve been doing for the last forty-odd years.

I bet a few of the inhabitant had $1000+ “weaves”. We need to include weaves and other expensive hair care routines in the means testing. Some of these women are spending thousands per year on their friggin’ hair while collecting welfare and other government “freebies”.

The ‘War on Poverty’ has been nothing less than a direct attack on those things that make prosperity possible. Whether through hubris or malice, it has done nothing more than to make millions dependent on the Government for their daily bread.
If the Reverend Jackson were truly serious about ending poverty, he would be boosting the free-market system, rather than trying to divide the spoils.

The Americas, after they were discovered, were explored, developed and organized by offshore governments and investors for PROFIT, not liberty. The founders knew this and hence we fought and won our War of Independence.

Well guess what, the profiteers never forgot the reason why they came here but most of the sheeple have.

Jesse Jack@$$, you can be the example for the rest of us. You should be impoverished first before we will listen to you, if we decide to listen anyway !

If you want to help the poor, then you have to help the rich find a way to make them more productive.Typical libtard mentality to not know the difference between being productive and being a parasite.

Wouldn’t you just LOVE to see Jesse spend a FULL day flinging garbage cans into the truck, or a winter day framing a house, or a sunny, 95 degree summer day laying concrete block?

I’d PAY to see that. I’d also pay to see him try to get out of bed the next day. I’d also pay to see his manicurist try to repair his nails and throw their hands up in despair.
