Republicans are preparing an array of budgetary, legislative and political strategies to fight regulatory action by President Obama.
Without Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and a majority in the House, Obama is expected to rely heavily on his executive power to influence policy over the next two years.
To counter that effort, Republicans hope to cut off funding for the new healthcare law and, through legislation, to block efforts by agencies to regulate greenhouse gas emissions and the Internet.
We will not allow the administration to regulate what they have been unable to legislate, Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), the incoming chairman of the House Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said last week.
The White Houses regulatory work already has stirred outrage among Republicans and business groups, which argue the White House is trying to enact policies through regulatory action after failing to win support from Congress.
These include greenhouse gas standards, the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) net-neutrality rules and the inclusion of advanced care planning in a Medicare rule after a similar provision was scrapped from the administrations healthcare overhaul when Republicans said the provision would create government-run "death panels."
White House efforts to issue major regulations are unprecedented, said Reed Rubenstein, senior counsel for the environment, technology and regulatory affairs division of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The business lobby is devoting significant resources to oversight of the administrations regulatory agenda, specifically regarding transparency and efficiency.
Rubenstein argues President Obama is inclined to regulate and that the Democratic-led Congress has passed broad legislation that allows the administration to issue regulations that fill in key details.

The new legislature has to shut him down. Politically and financially.
This is a losing strategy for Øbongo and could play huge in his defeat in 2012. All it takes is a pubbie strong enough to point out that the President is elected to do the bidding of the American people, not run his own private enterprise.
Now if we only had a strong pubbie...;-)
Bravo! Now I hope and pray they back this up with effective action and shut-down the hussein-insane agenda.
White House efforts to issue major regulations are unprecedented,...
Of course, hussein obama and his cohorts in crime are unrepentant big-government socialist and elitists. They truly believe they know what is best for everyone. Scary thought, isn't it? People too stupid to recognize socialisms 100% failure rate think they know best. Ironic and funny if it weren't real. That is why they must be stopped.
Executive Powers are had to counter.
A simple agenda to restore American greatness:
1. Do not allow any federal legislation to be considered without the bills author pointing to the specific language in the constitution allowing that legislation
2. Do not fund any existing federal agency or program that does not have specific language in the constitution authorizing that agency or program.
Color me skeptical on the idea the Republicans are going to do a damn thing to stop him.
I have more confidence letting a taco fart in a white suit than I have in Boehner. I hope I am wrong.
BRAVO indeed!!!
Otherwise, No taxation without representation.
The balance of power between the branches of government must be preserved at all cost...Give me Liberty or give me death!
The harsh reality is that whichever segment of the populace is affected by cuts will scream bloody murder.
Obama needs to be impeached, tried for treason and brought to justice by a jury of military families who lost loved ones due to Obama’s insane rules of engagement.
You got to watch every move this liar and sneak thief does.
it is nit just him, it is the GOP. They seem to think we will vote for them as opposed to the dims. No, it will start the TEA Party on the way to becoming a NATIONAL PARTY.
They can be de-funded (or not funded).
Yes, that is what we want, but getting the people in Washington to do it is the other thing.
You have my vote on that!
We still need to have a bout 5 million armed voters show up in Washington and drag those congress critters out for retraining.
Barack the Kenyan is one unAmerican SOB. We’ve got a government that We the People said should work a certain way. This ***hole is making up his own damn rules as he goes along. It’s time for We the People to stand up and say, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. It’s time for us to show this Kenyan SOB how the American government is supposed to work.
“Executive Powers are hard to counter”.
I guess some thought it would be hard to defeat the Redcoats once upon a time also. :)
