Congressman Tom McClintock issued the following statement in response to the Presidents State of the Union Address to Congress:
The President missed the message of the 2010 election. It is not government that creates prosperity. It is freedom. We cannot bring about prosperity by locking government spending at unsustainable levels, wasting billions of dollars on subsidies for outrageously inefficient industries, increasing taxes on energy, managing our local schools from Washington and usurping the countless decisions made every day by families, consumers and businesses.
These policies are squandering our wealth, impoverishing our nation and mortgaging our future.
After the Republican sweep of 1994, President Clinton heeded the will of the American people. He declared the era of big government over, he reformed welfare entitlements, he reduced federal spending by a miraculous four percent of GDP and produced an era of solid economic growth, prosperity and budget surpluses.
I had hoped to see the same humility and pragmatism in the State of the Union address tonight. I left profoundly disappointed.
Have they stopped kissing yet??
Well, pardon us if we are confused as to who the Republicans are as they sit there in date-mode with snakes like UpChuck Schumer, wearing their mandatory black and white ribbons.
Gag.
This was a lousy start for those who voted for GOP candidates, and we will be watching this bunch closely.
Tom McClintock is one of the good guys.
What can you do! There’s no assigned seating in the House chamber!
McClintock for president.
It looks as though you folks in Cali have a principled Conservative hiding out in elective office there. Best kept secret in the state.
We tried to elect McClintock governor when Gray Davis was booted out. But the Establishment Republicans, the phony-cons like Hugh Hewitt and his pals, pushed Tom aside and put all the GOP effort behind Schwarzenegger.
The Cali Republican establishment is not a friend of conservatives, and that is one huge reason that Republicans don’t get elected in this state. The Establishment picks candidates like Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina and a lot of people won’t vote for Democrat-lite.
I remember one sentence from Carly’s campaign, and it was right out of the McCain playbook - I’ll cross the aisle to vote if I have to, even going against my party if I have to.”
He did campaign with her, and she used his line. Too bad, she shunned Sarah. It probably wouldn’t have made a difference in the commie state of CA.
Not a secret in Placer County. We knew he was one who would adhear to the Constitutionthat's why we voted him in. We in California are not all liberals. Can you say Jim Robinson!!!
All those RINO and Democratic fags.
I haven’t missed anything! Did you?
Maybe someday America will pull it's head out of it's ass, and elect someone like McClintock, instead of a street level corrupt Communist liar from Chicago.
If she had been a conservative, and not just one more establishment backed squish, she might have had a chance. But Carly also had a history at Hewlett Packard that wasn’t at all good. I have HP friends to the right of Genghis Khan who wouldn’t vote for Fiorina if Satan was the alternative.
McClintock is a hard worker who comes across as someone who studies the government and knows how it can be controlled and brought back to reasonable size. He is not flashy, he has somewhat the manner of a competent engineer.
So, since he appears to have conservative sensibilities rather than the PC instincts of a political weasel, and the manner of a normal person rather than a movie star, he will never be the choice of the manipulative bastards of the Cali GOP establishment.
But a whole lot of Cali voters are. You guys should take the 4th district and secede. Make Tom your president. Avoid the states impending doom. Or join Nevada. The 4th holds enough voters to make Harry Reids seat reliably GOP.
He’s not the type they can control and manipulate...and likely the reason he’s not popular. The fact Obama is POTUS, likely means McClintock would not be popular on the national stage either, for the same reasons.
Well he’s not popular with the elites who control the Cal Republican Party apparatus, because unlike Arnold he won’t be their sock puppet.
But McClintock could be plenty popular with voters once they discover him.

FYI, McClintock was on Greta this evening. The video segment may be available at Fox News. They briefly discussed the deceit of Obamacare.
