When I was in L.A, I was shocked to see food stamps redeemed at the local Wendys.
The advertisement for them was right in the window.
Never heard of such a thing.

In the mid 1970’s I was working in the Cleveland, OH area.
Even then, there was a black market for food stamps. Recipients would sell the stamps for cash-30 to 40% of face value and use the cash for whatever they wanted to buy.

Please tell me you’re kidding. Is this only in CA or nationwide?

I saw a woman at Safeway buy 7 cases of Pepsi with her food stamps card.
The clerk did not blink.

It’s statewide.
They use EBT cards, looks like an ATM card. They can use them at any location that accepts them.
The liberal argument is that the poor shouldn’t be denied fast food.

Most in CA also receive cash every month, which is loaded on the same card. That ‘money’ has been used in every ATM in las vegas.
