Pelosi Statement on Passage of Legislation Prohibiting Federal Funding of NPR March 17, 2011

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after House Republicans voted to prohibit funding of National Public Radio. Republicans also unanimously opposed a Democratic measure to ensure that public broadcast networks continue receiving funds to disseminate AMBER Alerts regarding abducted children:

“Defunding public radio may fulfill a Republican campaign promise, but it does not create jobs and it does nothing to reduce the deficit. What’s more, it could endanger our children – as every House Republican voted to halt funding for radio networks that play a crucial role in alerting the public to missing and abducted children.

“Republicans must join Democrats to create jobs, strengthen the middle class, and responsibly reduce the deficit.”

Every radio, TV, and cable network alerts to missing children today, not just NPR.

NPR broadcasting amber alerts is like the look out man monitoring the police radio channel.

Not necessary anymore. It is ALWAYS on Fox News and most likely CNN. The problem with NPR besides the liberalism is it has outlasted its need.

LOL. I also like the new math - eliminating spending does not reduce the deficit. Who knew?

These nitwits fantasize that somewhere in America there are lots of small towns that have no other access to information than NPR or PBS. Somehow the 50,000 watt blowtorch AM stations, the satellite TV stations, Al Gore’s internet and even the newspapers are unavailable in these back water hamlets but somehow “ AllThingsConsidered” comes through. Where are these little towns?

“Defunding public radio may fulfill a Republican campaign promise,”

Yep. Amazing isn’t it?

“...but it does not create jobs and it does nothing to reduce the deficit.”

Yeah, cuz she knows all about that!

“What’s more, it could endanger our children – as every House Republican voted to halt funding for radio networks that play a crucial role in alerting the public to missing and abducted children.”

Whenever any politician brings the emotion into the argument, then they have admitted defeat.

“Republicans must join Democrats to create jobs,”

Only a Libtard would think the government can create jobs.

“strengthen the middle class,”

Stay the heck out of my life and I will strengthen myself. As it is, every time I make progress, Libtards want to steal from me to knock me back down.

“and responsibly reduce the deficit.”

Again, something of which she has no experience or expertise to utilize in offering advice.
