You might expect that the man who is incoming president of the National Rifle Association and was chairman of the American Conservative Union would be a double-barrel ideologue.
Not quite.
David Keenes friends include liberal-leaning types like Al Hunt of Bloomberg News, former ABC correspondent Sam Donaldson, former New York Times reporter Adam Clymer, and former Democratic presidential candidate Eugene McCarthy.
Keene never hesitates to mention that his mother and father were labor union organizers in Wisconsin or that, as a teenager, he passed out literature for John F. Kennedy during the presidential primary.
Moreover, Keene has stood firm against attacks from within the conservative movement over his decision to keep the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) open to participation by such groups as GOProud, an organization of conservative gays.

The NRA and GOA are actually two different types of Second Amendment groups...
The NRA is more of a corporate institution with an est. 4+ million members, they also have a lot of irons in the fire, training, education, legislative action group. Definitely the big dog in the kennel so they get smoozed a lot by the "elected class", but with that comes some interdependence with politicians and the government.
The GOA is a small but ferocious grassroots type group that uses member alerts to battle or support specific legislation. Instead of spending money on lawyers and training programs, they use their members as the "action arm", they send out alerts and the members are urged to take action... as in contacting and bringing pressure on their Reps.
People attempt to compare the two groups, but it is unfair at best, as the GOA is a much smaller organization and their impact on legislation is difficult to gauge.

HP BASIC or MSDOS?.......
You could do both...Windows didn’t boot up at start up like it does now...You couls also open a DOS window and do a lot of damage if you didn’t know what you were doing...
And these days you could look a college graduate in the eye and say can you open me up a DOS prompt???
The puzzled looks might make you feel a million years old...hehehe
Thanks, bookmarked Refs for future use...
That my FRiend, cannot be denied!
I’ve done that.
We have some old computers here at work for specific purposes that run DOS. The younger guys have no clue how to operate them. No mouse, no windows. nothing but keyboard and memory of the ‘old’ commands...........makes me feel superior!...........
Good morning and please excuse my absence. Well, at first blush, this does not look good at all. One of the men at the breakfast is very active in the NRA and is running to be on the Board of Directors. I will be sure and ask him about this Saturday at the gun show. I’ll post his comments. I’m doing well. Hope you are, too.
I am doing well. I am glad to see you; I was planning to start looking for you this weekend. I’ve missed you. Things are getting straightened out for us; we may be going back to Papua in July. More later in a freepmail.
