No, I managed to do the entire drive myself. And here I thought I lived out in the country. You live in Kansas or something? I’m surprised a some of the comments on this thread, I’ll say again, an excellent movie and we had applause too.

I loved the movie, and thought it’s quirky spots greatly added to the effect. I am imaging the FREEPER that thought it was terrible, but having trouble getting a clear picture. The movie will make a lot of money & book sales will be up for years. I’ll see it again in the theater.

Ebert lets his politics influence his reviews. His review encouraged me to check it out.
...But I was already going to see it. I was prepared to spend four hours on a trip to Dallas and a search for the theater when I learned it finally found a couple screens in Austin.
I’ll probably see it again next weekend. The ending is worth the price of admissions and a great cliff-hanger to boot!

I wondered about that while watching the movie, too. It seems you have to have read and understood the book for the characters (and especially the adulterous scene) to make (the most) sense.
I couldn't get through Atlas Shrugged until I had read Rand's first book on philosophy The Virtue of Selfishness. (A mere pamphlet compared to the novel! And much easier to read.) Then it all came together.
I think the best novel Rand ever wrote was We the Living. Only a few hundred pages and very tightly written, compelling, said nearly all the things that her other big novels had to say, and had the back-drop of real history to boot.
