As with a whole host of other ‘thinkers’ from left to right, the intelligent person will look, analyze and steal what they like. I have no more respect for a conservative who hasn't read Marx than for a liberal who hasn't read Von Mises; if you can't state your opponent's position in a coherent and intelligent, even sympathetic manner, then one is a dolt and should be requested to refrain from bothering the adults. Problems arise, IMHO in two instances, when one follows wholeheartedly the writings and maxims of any other person or group uncritically, and when one attacks the person rather than the ideas; unfortunately objectivists tend to both regard her as a prophet and see principled opposition as socialist collectivism.

Most Marxists haven’t read Marx. He’s very dull.

I’ve read Marx’s writings, and I saw them for what they were. An unworkable, unfair, and childish treatise on a world that can’t possibly exist. Except in a liberal’s mind.
