Polls closed in Atlantic, most polls to close at 9:30pm EDT.
Best news is there won’t be a Prime Minister Jack Layton!! WHEW!! The polls in the last few days were scary!
8 seats to go!
What are the current tallies for those of us Down South?
The national numbers were scary but Layton’s gains were all in Quebec. The NDP took 39 seats away from the Bloc.
I looovvvee seeing the BQ crushed!! About time!! I’m surprised about Iggy though - trailing in his own riding...
Doesn’t that place the QB on the political Endangered Species List?
Sorry, I meant to type BQ.
155 seats needed for a majority.
152 Conservative
100 NDP
31 Liberal
3 Bloc
10:20 EDT
CPC 141
LIB 29
NDP 87
BLOC 5
GREEN 0
155 needed to form majority

How many ridings remain to be counted?
C’mon Conservatives!! 3 more seats!! :)
It buries them. To gain status as an official party (and get the $2 per vote subsidy), they need a minimum of 12 seats. Since the BQ finances relied almost entirely on the subsidy, they’ll be broke.
Is this as much a generational matter as a political one (i.e. younger voters in Quebec do not identify with the BQ)?
My last post there were were 18 more ridings to count.
Not sure. I think that Quebec voters simply got tired of being shut out of the national political equation.
155 seats!!!!!!!
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Mark Holland..the lib mouth....GONE
Iggy lost his seat to the Tories :-)
