Actress defends Weiner, says 'everyone lies about sex' By Bob Cusack - 06/10/11 11:45 PM ET
A liberal actress and comedian is strongly defending embattled Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), saying "everyone lies about sex" and expressing hope he becomes the mayor of New York City.
During an appearance on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher," Janeane Garofalo said, "Anthony Weiner deserves to be supported and hopefully he will be mayor of New York one day. I'm serious. He is a Democrat [who] actually fights for the things liberals and progressive and rational people care about.
"I don't know why he's being thrown under the bus. He hasn't done any -- he hasn't broke any laws," she said.
The Saturday Night Live alum, who has appeared in the television shows "24," "The West Wing" and "The Larry Sanders Show," added, "Everyone lies about sex. [Weiner's controversy] has not impacted anyone's life negatively."
She blamed the media for being "overly obsessed" with the Weiner story.
Weiner earlier this week admitted he tried to cover up that he had sent racy photos of himself to about six women outside his marriage. Some Democrats have called on Weiner to resign, but he has said he will continue to serve in Congress.
Maher, a frequent critic of the Republican Party, indicated he will have difficulty taking Weiner seriously after viewing the pictures the New York Democrat sent over Twitter.
Weiner has previously run for the mayor of New York and had been eyeing another bid in 2013 before this scandal emerged.
Weiner said it was NOT sex.

So Weiner fights for things like 0-care? Of course, after fighting like an armpit pirahnna, he quickly turned around and started looking into how New York City could get a waiver.
So, liberals and progressives (redundancies) and rational people (liberals and rational people? there's an oxymoron) care about Obama care -- for everyone else.

Whereas a Republican as much as jaywalks, or drives 42 mph in a 35 mph zone and his or her resignation is demanded.
Weiner appears to me by his actions to be a skinny pervert and liar, but what makes him different from other Democrats? As already demonstrated by Clinton, Democrats have no shame as does their base these days.
