During his speech, Micheletti Tuesday criticized the U.S. government and the OAS Hugo Llorens for reacting to the removal in 2009 of President Manuel Zelaya a "strong interest in ideological"
The Honduran president Roberto Micheletti today asked the U.S. to defend democracy in Latin America and fight the presidents who want to stay in power, in a speech via video link to lawmakers in the country.
"Please watch democracy in these countries where the presidents appear overnight and they want to stay in power. Help the people," Micheletti asked in his speech broadcast on a legislative subcommittee on Latin America.
Micheletti could not go to Washington for lack of visa and that "I support everyone's efforts to achieve reconciliation in our country. But reconciliation must be done without violating the Constitution of our Republic."
He added that "I want to tell you that we are ready again to continue to defend democracy."
Reproach
Micheletti also had harsh words for the Barack Obama by turning his back after the political crisis in 2009 in his country.
"Surprisingly, we see that after the June 28 event (2009) the roles are reversed and those who were our friends give back and support those who never ceased to stress," Micheletti said in his testimony at the hearing reported .
The hearing was organized by the Republican majority that dominates the House of Representatives.
During his speech, Micheletti Tuesday criticized the U.S. government in Tegucigalpa, Hugo Llorens, and the OAS have reacted to the dismissal in 2009 of President Manuel Zelaya a "marked ideological interest."
The spokesman Charles Luoma-Overstreet said the State Department "restricted eligibility for nonimmigrant visas to individuals who were associated or strongly supported the Honduran government that took power after the ouster in June 2009 the democratically elected president Jose Manuel Zelaya. "
Luoma-Overstreet added that "the restriction remains. We do not comment on individual cases details of visas, visa-related documents are confidential under federal law."
Visas
Some congressional Republicans, including committee chair of the House Foreign Affairs, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Micheletti argue that it should regain his visa.
Ros-Lehtinen disagreed in politics "punitive" U.S. government against those who opposed the "attacks" Manuel Zelaya of the Constitution of his country, noting that in the coming months to publish a report on the role of some State Department officials "pro-Zelaya."
Micheletti was invited to participate with the former president of the Central Bank of Honduras Midence Sandra Martinez and former Secretary Executive of the National Forum of Convergence (FONAC) Leonardo Villeda, who were not present for the same reason.
Because of Obozo we are still fighting this battle. They have denied Mr. Micheletti a Visa because the Honduran government legally removed Mel Zelaya and would not let him return. He in defiance of the current Honduran Constitution tried to change the Constitution to allow him to stay in power more than his 1 term as their constitution states.
Zelaya has only been back in Honduras for a few days and he is already campaigning to call a Constitutional Convention to put him back in Power.
Our Press called Zelaya's removal a "coup" and it was not. He was removed legally as per their constitution.
Our state department still wants to put the Commie Mel Zelaya back in power.
The Honduran citizens stood up to bullying of the Obozo administration and they are still being punished by denying Visa's to the U.S.
Traitors to the Left of U.S. For sure.
Viva Honduras, Viva Mr. Micheletti (the one with the balls)
What is the upside for Honduras to allowing Zelaya back in the country?
Reduced pressure from U.S. for allowing Mel back in country.
He needs to be tried for crimes, but I think that was part of the deal.
First day he was back he was calling for a Constitutional Convention to change Honduras Government. Obozo and Mel both want to turn poor little Honduras into another Commie country.
We need to expose the administration and the State Department for the Traitors they are. Traitors to the Citizens of the U.S. and Traitors to a good alley in Honduras.
FUBO!
The world is not going to be safe until 0bozo is out of power.
The machine didn’t do all that badly. The language is stilted but clear.
Micheletti would get snubbed by Obama and denied a visa, wouldn’t he? We’re talking about a de facto head of state and the Zelaya horse had long fled the barn.
By the way, the dirt poor country of Honduras at least has a better credit rating than Greece or the next four or five runners up.
Trying to get the UN off their back is my guess. But they should have had a pure India rubber room ready for him.
Yep and they helped us during the Contra Effort. Hence the Lefties hate them and want them subjected under a Commie like Mel.
Commie Bastards all.
Zelaya
Obozo
Hillary and State Department
Vermin All.
out of power and in jail
This makes me sick. We stand with a dictator wannabe.
Yes. A Commie Dictator want to be.
I can’t believe our scumbag administration denied Micheletti a visa. Except of course that I can totally believe it and in fact expect it. The lowness of it is perfectly in character. I tell you, this Honduras issue has got me about as steamed as anything this administration has done. At least the House Republicans are actively and visibly supporting Micheletti.
DeMint did a fine job last year. There were a lot of us who pushed every button we knew to push to bring heat on the Administration.
They finally backed away, but have used stealth to reverse much of that move.
Barry the Lying Commie Bastard.
Or exiled permanently.
Make it easier to get rid of him?
“They finally backed away, but have used stealth to reverse much of that move.”
Evil moves in the dark. This administration has moved quite a bit in the dark. I have a friend who is Honduran-American. This person voted for and was a supporter of Obama....until the fiasco with Honduras. This friend now despises Obama and all that he stands for.
