It wont come from an outside source.”

Planet Obambie has already pretty much destroyed
the US portion of Earth.
Thankfully, I no longer live there.
They are also big believers in the polar shift. The poles will literally shift and our globe will look completely different...
Huh? Who cares about a polar shift if a planet is going to slam into the earth & reduce it to another asteroid belt??
Ohhh Kaaaay! Right!
Thankyouverymuch.
Next!
We are all gonna die. Women and children hurt the worst.
“Elenin is a textbook comet; it has visible “coma,” or nucleus, and a long tail made of vaporizing ice.
“If it were a brown dwarf, “it would not have a coma or tail, because the gas cannot escape from an object with substantial gravity.
“In addition, if it were massive we would be seeing its gravitational influence on the orbits of the planets, especially Mars and Earth, but there is no change in these orbits.
“Finally, if it were a brown dwarf it would have been easily detected in various previous astronomical surveys, including the recent WISE infrared mission, even when it was still in the outer solar system.”
So what force or being is supposedly homing this humongous missile in on a sitting duck planet Earth? Toss a planet like that at the Solar System at random and the chances are astronomically high (heh heh) that it will not hit anything.

They should have caught a ride with the Heaven’s Gate crowd.

Comet Elenin: It’s the end of the world as we know it!
there is an asteroid that is coming right after Elenin, though, and acording to JPL’s own site, it looks like it will collide
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2742251/posts
the JPL site for that asteroid is below

I think her name was Nichelle Nichols.
does this jpl data for asteroid Honda display when you search it?
My computer crashes when I try to access jpl data on Elenin and Honda, though I can see neo data for other objects.
Is it true nasa has viewed Elenin almost 1000 times in the past 9 months? Are ther current images of this object that confirm it is a comet? It is pretty close by now.
I thought this was supposed to hit ten years ago with John Titor?
>>I think her name was Nichelle Nichols.<<
It is a long-running ST joke that the Lt. Uhura character never reveals her first name but in some show script treatments her name was something that starts with “N.”
In ST:X (which I didn’t want to like but found myself enjoying immensely), it is a minor plot point used with great fun.
Poor Ms. Nichols — she never did much of anything after ST:TOS. IIRC, to this day she makes her living at Trek/SF Conventions. You would have thought Shatner would at least have found a spot for her in TJ Hooker...
HUH haa haa haaa!
*cluck* *cluck* *buQUAA!"
Gas can escape from an object with substantial gravity. Look at Enceladus. Various 'gases' escape from Earth, as well, and, a majority of objects in the Universe.
The tail of a comet has nothing to do with gravity.
Comets are a selective mix of rocks and ice, which burns when near the Sun. The comets recharge during their outer leg of the trip. Space is full of ice and rocks. After so many trips, a comet will accumulate more rock than ice, biasing the mixture, and the sucker won't burn anymore, and becomes an asteroid.
BTW, we use the same component to launch our Space Shuttle. The rocket is fueled with Liquid Hydrogen and Liquid Oxygen, which just happen to be the components (H and O) of water(ice). It burns pretty good.
I gotta believe that all this doomsday obsession is a reflection of the complete mess we are in as typified by our dear leader.
The real concern would be that a rogue planet would disturb the orbits of other objects, like in the Kuiper Belt, or one of the planets or their moons.
But then, The one thing constant about the Universe, is change.
