Rick Perry says he is definitely running
UPI ^ | 8-11-11

While Texas Gov. Rick Perry has made no formal announcement, he told Time magazine in an interview he wants to run for president.

"I mean I wouldn't be this far into the process. … The issue of, 'is this what I want to do?' was dealt with about 45 days ago in a conversation with my wife," Perry said. "Prior to that, no.

Being the president of the United States was not on my radar screen from the standpoint of something I wanted to do."

Perry added he has a "calmness" in his heart about running.

Don't get me wrong, I want Obama gone more than anything.

Perry is certainly better than "Mittens", but if people think he will clean house in Washington like needs to be done, I am afraid they will be disappointed IMHO.

Perry? (((ping)))

Personally I think both of them are coordinating on this.

LOL..... Yep, down to the last detail don’tcha know. How’s this for coordination?

**Perry in with announcement this weekend sometime

**Palin to endorse him come Sept. 3, event in Iowa

**Perry to select a one term VP for the first term

**Perry to select Palin as second term VP

**Palin to run for President in 2020

That gives her time to get the children out of the mix except for Trig. She’ll only in her mid 50s by that time and ready to rumble.

What’s the best road to the WH for Sarah Palin? Is it for her to run herself in 2012? Maybe. Maybe it is. And if she announces I will absolutely drop my support for Rick Perry and join her team, literally and figuratively.

I love Sarah, and think she would make a great president. With that being said, in the three years since she was on McCain's ticket, her negatives have actually gone UP among the general population, to the point where she has a 56% disapproval rating right now. She also has a near 100% name recognition rating, so it is not like there are a lot of people who don't know about her where she could significantly improve that rating.

I had hoped that she would be able to use the last three years to overcome the negative images that the MSM created during the 2008 campaign, but that does not seem to have happened. That being the case, I think her greatest contribution can be to help generate enthusiasm in the base for the eventual nominee and help fundraise, etc. I also like the idea that some here have proposed, that she run for Kyl's Senate seat in Arizona. That would give her a broader political resume' in 2020 to run for the top job.

What would be REALLY amazing is if he picked Palin for VP!

We have been told over and over on numerous threads that she will not settle for VP.

Going to be interesting. Not a big fan of Perry but he's better than Romney, I guess. (so far, we still have time to see how things shake out.)

“What would be REALLY amazing is if he picked Palin for VP!”

If they are collaborating (and they may well be) Palin would probably get a cabinet post (energy) rather than veep.

Media will have a hay day with trying to compare him to George W. Bush. I don’t see Perry picking Palin as a running mate. AT ALL!

“Palin runs for kyl senate seat in AZ. she’s got plenty of time......”

Probably the whole reason she bought the super secret property down in AZ. She reminds me of a Prom Date.

She keeps her date hoping and waiting, waiting and hoping, when she finally comes down the stairs after about an hour, the date gets all excited only for her to announce that she just can't go to the Prom. Her Mom, Dad and Brother don't want her to, and she REALLY can't go against what they want you know.

And the desperate date becomes even more infatuated with her as a result. But in this case, there are bound to be some really ticked-off voters.

I will admit that I don’t know all about Perry. But he won’t split the vote. Romney will fade faster than a pair of cheap jeans.

1)Why Bachmann over Palin?

Bachmann’s voice at certain octaves does not make me want to jam #2 pencils through my eardrums. Truthfully I deeply admire both women. It’s got nothing to do with policy differences why I rank Bachmann higher, mainly the voice thing and many Palin supporters who seem to do their level best to piss off anyone that does not worship at her sainted feet as they do.

2)Why is Palin on your list and not another preferred candidate if she has not yet announced?

I believe that she could still announce and I don’t narrow myself to just one candidate in the primary until I vote. I do believe that a few of the ones I like will drop out or be forced out before I get to vote, this way I am still left with a palatable choice in the end.

Your list matches mine exactly, except for Cain. I was all gung ho for him, until he started making weird statements re: Islam, etc. Not too sure about him now. As well, he comes off too much like a preacher, and the licking of the lips after each sentence, really drives me nuts. Not that those things are bad and would make him a bad CIC....just sayin those things are annoying when he talks, so it makes it hard to pay attention to what he’s saying, etc.

That said, ANYONE is better than our lisping, s-whistling, purple lip, cowardly lion MARXIST, Anti-American CIC we have now.

(I even think it’s possible Palin will endorse Perry this weekend.)

Wouldn't that make a few mouths drop open, especially here?

Hey, I’m all for speculatin’ and your humble tone is noted, and it makes this all the more fun.

“I think Palin thinks that the best way to help get rid of the commies who are now OCCUPYING the WH is for her to endorse Perry early.”

Personally....I tend to agree with that. I HOPE she thinks that, but, if there is one thing about Palin, is that she does like to keep everyone guessing. If she runs, the field will be stronger.

If she doesn’t, then whoever earns her support, and I would assume that would be Perry, then, that would vault that candidate forward big time.

Neither do I, but I think that's a good thing. Palin needs to keep doing what she's doing. She's a great cheerleader, but I do not believe she is the right person for president or veep.

“She should either endorse one now or at least announce that she’s not running (if that’s the case).”

Yes, that would be better. Withhold the endorsement until they perform up to her standard - assuming she does not run.

His internals are blowing the other candidates off the map.

He has moved against Romney and Obama higher and faster than all the other candidates and wannabe/maybe non candidates combined.

And not only that, his name recognition is only about 60%. He has real Reagan potential.

she’s a smart, patriotic lady who knows the most important thing is to get Obama out. She said in an interview a year ago that if the right candidate came forward, she would support. It was not about her, rather its for the country. does she like the spotlight, absolutely. I sense she also does this stuff to torque the MSM.

other’s clearly disagree, we’ll soon see......

None in the field is perfect, but when you compare the field now with what we had this time in 2007 - we are light years better off.

Why would Perry pick one person as VP for one term then switch to a different VP for a second term? Don’t they usually stay with the same one??? Eight years as VP would be better for a Palin presidential run in 2020. jmo
