Perry has the military background, as a former Air Force pilot

West’s military service overseas does not qualify as foreign policy experience, and he is a very Jr Congressman

Let’s get past thinking we need a minority or a woman to best the democrats at affirmative action

Perry needs someone who has demonstrated experience in geopolitics, diplomacy and national strategy...and someone with experience dealing with Congress and the DC bureaucacy
Someone like John Bolton/Dick Cheney ....but not John Bolton or Dick Cheney

Possibly there is a former or retiring Senator or cabinet ofice out there from the north or northeast or the left coast... can’t think of a name right now....Someone whose name is not now in the mix

Sam Brownback? Judd Gregg? Voinovich?
Condoleeza Rice?

You make excellant points and you are right on West’s limitations right now.

I don’t want Bolton , I like him a lot, he was great at the UN but he has a reputation for being a hothead, unlike Cheney who is political and cool under fire and in front of the press.

Rice is out because she is so close to the Bush presidency in the minds of voters.

I’m having a hard time coming up with someone right now too..who has been good ? Maybe a senator, so we could also influence the Senate?

Hey...how about John Kerry? I heard he was in Vietnam and even Cambodia and Paris?HA!!!!( just kidding)

Of the names you mentioned, only Brownback might qualify as conservative enough. Voinivich is a nut. Brownback would have no draw politically outside of KS. He tried to run for Prez and got absolutely nowhere. He is boring, boring, boring.

Kasich is a good name, but he’s pretty busy right now.

I think now is the ripe time to get an all conservative ticket, not necessarily geographic balance. I might look to FL or South Carolina or some such eastern place, but I don’t think a Northeasterner exists who is right for this, but if one does, somebody clue me in.

Kasich would be my Midwesterner pick, but like I said...

Have you heard LTC Allen Weat speak? He is brilliant and it is clear he trumps anyone in the running on Foreign policy issues accept maybe Bolton and it is unclear if he is running. West is very well educated in many facets.

I’m nominating Louie Gohmert for everything these days, but he can’t run with Perry because they’re both from Texas.
