Far be it from me to be the defender of anyone; but a couple of things. By 2007, her daughters would have been beyond the age impacted (although the youngest one is 17 I believe.)

Michele Bachmann was elected to the House in Nov. of 2006. When this legislation was being passed by the Minnesota legislature, she was no longer a member of that body.

Re Gardisil I thought the caller’s point that Texas requires vaccinations for sexually transmitted diseases like Hepatitis B, I forget the other one she said, why can’t they require others? And Perry’s point they only contributed $5,000 to his campaign was interesting.
So what if they were old forms, wouldn’t that have been what Perry originally ordered?

I agree. Did not PALIN say that one of Perry’s chief staff members went to work for Merck AFTER she left her govt job and BEFORE Perry made his Gardisil decision-—i.e., Palin was implying that that fact alone is a conflict of interest and falls within her definition of crony capitalism.
Is that what you understood?
Meanwhile, it looks like just the direct funds Perry raised from Merck were in the hundreds of thousands, not a mere $5K:

Delving a little further into this, Bachmann was not in the State Senate at the time of this legislation.
The contention is that the forms were changed before the order. I could have sworn I checked the date, but I am backing down on this claim until I can do the research again.

If you’ll look into the thread, she did not mandate it and likely did not even ask for the funds as it hit six months into her term. Have you ever known the Feds to act that quickly on something?
