Just 15 seconds into a question-and-answer session with reporters Wednesday morning, Ron Paul found a way to work in a mention of the Austrian School of economics.
From there, he moved inexorably through the Paul oeuvre: the need for the gold standard, the problem with energy-efficient light bulbs, why Greece should declare bankruptcy, why Grover Cleveland was his favorite president, and how our economy is collapsing just like the Soviet system.
........Ron Paul is winning the 2012 Republican presidential primary.
Paul wont be the president, or even the party nominee, but that was never his goal. He aimed to shift the debate toward his exotic economic theories, and by that standard he has prevailed.
Republican leaders in Congress have joined Pauls crusade against the Federal Reserve. And his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination are stealing his ideas.
Were in a big mess, he began. Personal liberty is under attack. Our financial system is under attack. Matter-of-fact observations continued: Our foreign policy is a shambles. ... Weve consumed our wealth. ... We are destroying our currency.... Total failure.
......... Paul cares more about theory than power. I have one goal in life politically, he explained, and the goal is to make this a better country, change economic policy, change foreign policy, change the monetary policy and explain to people why we have booms and busts. Actually, thats five goals, but Paul says his ambition is being realized. The issues have come our way, he said. The attitude of the whole country is shifting in our direction.
Exhibit A: A letter sent Monday by Republican leaders to Bernanke urging the independent body not to stimulate the economy. It shouldve been said about 30 years ago or 40 years ago, Paul said.

I rarely read beyond those words. Why bother?
Far more in the Republican party voting think he is insane than winning.
Far more in the Republican party voting think he is insane than winning.
What planet do Leftists live on?
He’s like most humans. Their weaknesses overwhelm their strengths.
Paulbots on the march again...
Makes sense Paul winning the GOP primary - oh wait there hasn’t been one.
Paul go away.
Ron Paul’s an interesting dude but he doesn’t belong anywhere near the White House.
I’m glad that Ron Paul is in these debates advancing his limited govt message.
I don’t support him on foreign policy, and I don’t think he’ll win anyway.
But his contribution has been valuable.
...”Ron Paul is winning the GOP primary...”
Wait.....wwoooo....no, really....come on...my sides hurt...woooo...get an effin’ life.
Ron Paul...the perfect Republican gift to Obama.
In that case, Newt won every debate.
“Republican leaders in Congress have joined Pauls crusade against the Federal Reserve. And his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination are stealing his ideas. “
I don’t beleive you can call it stealing when the whole idea was to convince them to adopt these ideas and positions.
Winning over the party and the people with the ideas is infinitely more important then winning the election.
After all who cares who actually carries out the deed compared to finally getting it done.
The writer appears to believe there has been a Republican primary. What space-time continuum does he inhabit?
I dunno, I think the current Republican front runner Phony Baloney Plastic Banana Good Time Rock n Rolling big gov politicians are more insane than someone who has consistently preached and understands limited government and economics for the past 30 years.
I rarely read beyond “Ron Paul.”
Paul is a nut case IMO.
He gets part of smaller government, but then goes over the cliff and takes all of foreign policy matters with him.
He makes a few great points most Republicans should all make about the economy and smaller government, then you have to hand him the straight jacket.
I DO NOT LIKE ROMNEY and hope for a better choice, but any are better than THE ONE.
