U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta will arrive in Israel on Monday and meet with Defense Minister Ehud Barak. The two are due to discuss several issues including security ties between the U.S. and Israel, the Palestinian drive for independence, the "Arab Spring" and the Iranian nuclear program.
This will be the second meeting between Barak and Panetta within two weeks. The last meeting took place when Barak visited Washington just before the opening session of the United Nations' General Assembly that dealt with the Palestinian application. Barak also held meetings with General David Petraeus, who replaced Panetta as director of the Central Intelligence Agency earlier this year. In both cases, the meetings were announced only a few days before they took place.

PanettaIdiot is going to pacify the Israelis and the Israelis are going to smile the whole time while thinking that PanettaIdiot is simply that: an idiot. =.=
He’s arrived and already spouting off stupid comments regarding the Israelis.
Tell me what you think about Panetta...
God-Help-us-all!
He's Defense Secretary only to try and make the Commander in Chief look more relevant.
The war will come as a surprise to most.
Surprise , the God of Ignorance.
Ack - this has nothing to do with Israel’s security and everything to do with Obama’s re-election. Every single thing the Administration does between now and next November is devoted to that goal. Period.
Obama’s polling data must show that his support is slipping among Jews (naturally, given that he freaking HATES Israel and was raised a Muslim). Thus we are now seeing these token efforts to show that “we really care about Israel and Jews!” to try to get liberal Jewish voters back on the plantation. Some of us members of the tribe see what is going on.
Just a for instance,
" . . oh, is it electricity?, is that why you want nukes?, well first , boys & girls, pump all that natural gas you're flaring off into turbines , that will generate all the electricity you will ever need much cheap & more efficiently."
How come no one talks about how easy that could have been?
& still could be , btw!!!!
As other Freepers have pointed out, it’s probably more like Obama’s re-election plan.
Again.
Don’t set your expectations too high. Panetta is a full ride leftest.
Why do you think this will be a surprise?
Why do you think this will be a surprise?
Hang in there, Bibi! Help is on the way! 2012 can’t come soon enough...I hope...
I don't think so....some really tense situations going on of late....the palestinian issue can be stalled at the UN for an indefinate period of time....but Israel living in the "zone" while that happens is another story.
Abbas is in his glory now among his people and he's not going to let that ebb for anyones sake. He's going to push all the more because he is now emboldened to....remembering the muslim mind operates as that...when they get a seemingly victory..they push harder.
Abbas has said they will not negotiate with Israel until Israel stops the settlement building..and more precisely agrees to the 67' borders...and the UN is pushing for this as well.
It's getting hotter over there and remember in the past we have not seen the 'entire' middle east in such disarray...not even in the iraq.aphganistan war....their own people are retaliating against their leadership...supposedly?..either way ISrael is in a bad spot right now.
Not to mention all nations hold no fear of Pres.. Obama and in fact are on the fast track for their own agendas.
Yep!
From the article.....and I agree... It is very disturbing to me that Panetta, Borama and others piping in are all stating Israel does not have a green light to take out Irans nuclear facilities. Since when has Israel needed our permission?
When Israel took out Saddams site they told us immediately "after" they hit it. And our guys in the administration at that time said only..." Oh you don't say".... and frankly nobody objected in the slightest...
Now we have these liberal jackasses thinking they somehow are going to barter with BiBi? Of course not and so they meet with Barak instead...won't work...BiBi will do what he pleases and there's no power on earth to stop him if he determines doing this is the best interest of Israel.
