We, the Ben & Jerry’s Board of Directors, compelled by our personal convictions and our Company’s mission and values, wish to express our deepest admiration to all of you who have initiated the non-violent Occupy Wall Street Movement and to those around the country who have joined in solidarity. The issues raised are of fundamental importance to all of us. These include:
* The inequity that exists between classes in our country is simply immoral. * We are in an unemployment crisis. Almost 14 million people are unemployed. Nearly 20% of African American men are unemployed. Over 25% of our nation’s youth are unemployed. * Many workers who have jobs have to work 2 or 3 of them just to scrape by.

I will buy B&J’s when it is on deep discount (essentially when it is a “loss leader”) but otherwise not. Sometimes my wife drags me to one of their retail parlors for $6/each cones, but she knows that I complain about it the entire cone. :P

Regarding issues such as same-sex marriage and abortion, we are told by the left that “you can’t legislate morality”, “moral issues have no place in legislation”, and “you can’t impose your moral values on everyone”.
But, here these people are shameless about talking about morality related to the liberal cause of the day.
Al Gore has also talked of global warming as a moral issue.
I would suggest that the liberals can’t have it both ways. If we can’t impose morality, if we can’t legislate morality, if we can’t talk about morality with regard to our laws and public policy, then we can’t talk about morality with regard to these Wall Street protesters.
We know that the left is not known for consistency of their thought process, but, they should be called out on this. How dare they impose their morality on us!!!!
How many Ben and Jerry’s stores are on the south side of Chicago? Black people like ice cream too.
