They have branded themselves the 99 per cent, camping out in New York's financial district to protest against corporate greed and financial inequality.

But on the ground at the epicentre of the Occupy Wall Street demonstration, a closer look at some of the impassioned protesters is starting to suggest that while many of them have genuine grievances, all may not be completely as advertised.

The flash of a designer belt, a watch or even, in one case, a huge wad of cash reveals many activists are not quite so hard done by.

It’s like the 60s all over again, except they’re not protesting the war.

I wonder how parents are reacting since I am sure a lot of these wealthy kids have parents that work in the financial sector in Wall Street.

How many are still living at home and sponging off mom and dad? How many are complaining they don’t have a job but are cashing in on their 99 week unemployment checks instead of looking for that new job? But hey, it’s so cool to send your friends pics of the protest taken with your new cell phone that has all the latest bells and whistles!

Perhaps they hate Obama and simply can’t go about denouncing him since it would result in bad press and no celebrity appearances. So they project their inadequacies onto Wall Street, a perfectly easy target.

From The Wild One (1953)

Mildred: Hey Johnny, what are you rebelling against?
Johnny: Whadda you got?
