College students across the country are preparing for Thursday's national day of protests in unity with the Occupy Wall Street movement.
As of Wednesday evening, 90 colleges were confirmed for Occupy College's "National Student Solidarity Protest," according to the group's website. Natalia Abrams, a spokeswoman and facilitator for the group, expects the number to surpass 100.
This will be the second protest of the fledgling group, which sponsored a walk-out on college campuses Oct. 5. Thursday's protests are planned for 4:30 p.m. ET.
"It's not specifically a walk-out, because we don't want to confuse the protest," Abrams said about the new Occupy Colleges event. "We're not anti-school."
Instead, participating colleges are encouraged to host sit-ins and readings, in which they can spread awareness about the Occupy Wall Street movements and how they can become involved at a grassroots level.
Well more than 100 students are expected to turn out at each event, according to Abrams.

I wonder if this is a attempt by the leaders to get the attention off the openly anti-Semitic OWS protesters and onto a new crowd.
Shouldn’t student occupy colleges? They are paying to be their, or should I say the Gov’t and parents are paying. This thing is just getting stupid. People just looking for a reason to party.
Will the “men” burn their draft cards and the gals burn their brassieres?
They probably do it on Friday so they can skip out of classes and make a long weekend of it. If they were smart, they would protest how much it cost they parents to send them to their over priced institutes of indoctrination.
Occupy a damn shower. You people smell.
Ironically, the only thing they won’t occupy is an occupation.
Well, I was sure that the sit-ins og the 60s wouldn't stand forever. And, with "more than 100 students" expected at each college, it looks like this is truly a national movement that will leave the flower power student protests of the 60s in the dust.
I guess the next thing to put the 60s activism in the dust will be the OWS rock concert similar to Woodstock that will probably get well over 200.

What? Don't college students already "occupy colleges"? I love how they "don't want to confuse the protest." I'd be confused but I'm too busy laughing at them.
If it gets too cold out, or rains, the can always “occupy” their dorm rooms and use their MacBooks to update their Facebook profile and iPhones to Tweet how they are supporting the OWS crowd who is opposed to capitalism.
When they get bored with that, they can always play a game, purchased from a capitalist company on their Xbox.
And Wavy Gravy will be on the loudspeakers imploring them to "Stay away from the White Chocolate Crème Frappuccinos, people. They're a little bitter this morning man."

Shades of the 1960’s. They will keep it up until like Kent state a couple of them get killed..then they will run home to mommy and only union thugs will be left....

I’ve been following this, one of the things they’re protesting is student loans.
They don’t like student loans? No problem! Don’t get student loans. Instead of heading for college directly from high school learn a trade and go to work. Save money, it will be difficult to give up parties and fashionable clothes. When they have the money then go to college.
"We're not anti-school."It's true -- just as the '60s college protestors and their non-student ringleaders were, they'd prefer to stay in the responsbility-free contest of the professional student.
In the 60s, there was opposition to the Defense research grants to universities. That was the theoretical reason for bombing Stirling Hall, at UW-Madison, IIRC.
I’m not hearing one word against any university for any reason, this time. Tuition costs are being blamed on banks, even though the government is the biggest source of student loans.
Rather than furthering research for the national defense and interest, the universities are furthering the idea of total governmental control. This includes any corporate research, as long as some sort public-private partnership is in operation. That was called fascism in the 60s. Today, it is called responsible.
The universities and the professors are all enabling this occupation, along with a select number of corporate entities. These few corporations get a pass, it seems, on personhood. No one wants the government out of anything. They want the government to be in dictatorial charge of everything.
This will change dramatically once the government is no longer mostly leftist.
