I don't expect an exact answer; but, does "imminent" mean sometime this month, sometime in the next 6 months, or does it mean tomorrow?

These are geologists. They think in terms of ten thousand years or more. But it could happen tomorrow. We are in a culture which expects no change and the question is whether we have lost the ability to adapt.

Well, it might not be as immemint as all that.

“Magnus Gudmundsson, a geophysicist at the University of Iceland, who has been monitoring Katla, explained to Icelandic media that increased levels of heat under the glacier and more regular earthquakes could be a long-term warning of an eruption; however, there are no immediate signs to be concerned about.”
