Three Americans who were imprisoned in Iran and accused of spying voiced their support Monday for activists with the Occupy Wall Street movement and California prisoners protesting solitary confinement conditions.
Minnesota native Shane Bauer, Josh Fattal and Sarah Shourd each spoke at the "Occupy Oakland" encampment in front of City Hall where dozens of activists have been sleeping in tents for the past week.
The three University of California-Berkeley graduates thanked supporters who advocated for their release and said they are inspired by the Wall Street protests.
"This is the perfect place to celebrate our freedom," said Bauer, a freelance journalist originally from Onamia, Minn., who proposed to Shourd while they were in prison. "I feel proud of this happening in my city."

Not surprised in the least. Rich liberal children, whose parents paid for their ‘excursion’ to hiking in Iran. Not surprised at all that they would end up as ows’ers
They already demonstrated that by going hiking in Iran.
Too bad they couldn’t end up as Rachel Corrie pancakes.
Pity.
I would have thought they had more class than that.
Of course. Apparently, wandering around in a hostile part of the world, getting abducted, and held for ransom didn’t make them any smarter.
Their parents must be so proud.
Who supplies their traveling money?
They are graduates of the University of California at Bezerkley of course they are leftists...
Freegards

LOL! No surprise here!
I can't answer that, but I will answer the corollary question -
it definitely was not of their own merit and effort that they received the money to travel.
I’ve never bought the “hiker” story. Who travels halfway around the world to go “hiking” in the most dangerous, war torn patch of land in the world. A place where being discovered means certain death or imprisonment. It doesn’t add up.
It's just not right that they should have to pay them back.
That’s what I was thinking. These kids thought hiking in Iran was a good idea. That pretty well disqualifies them as anyone you want to listen to - unless they are reading back your order in a drive-up window.
Mike
Exactly. I wonder how they were treated in prison. If they had more-or-less comfortable quarters suspicion abounds. when is their book coming out?
I wonder if we could fund for them a hike in North Korea?
'Nuff said; three turds of a Liberal "Kumbaya" schooling, with no redeeming social value, are certainly "experts", alright.....
