Coast to Coast radio had someone on less than an hour ago who said he had 2 separate reports that Vandenburg AF Base is launching something very, very soon regarding this asteroid.
Well at least they are seeing it BEFORE its approach. I recall a few years ago a fairly large asteroid was only discovered AFTER it had passed by earth - and closer to us than the moon!
FWIW there are drills about the national emergency alert system, pacific tsunami warning exercise, and a different near earth object called elenin in our neck of the woods all in the next week.
Coast to Coast is as reliable as a comic book on such matters. Probably less so.
If anything did launch it would be talked about here..
