Don Knotts portrayed Hugh Hefner is an old comedy called The Love God, which is pretty funny. However, to his dying day, Knotts tried to preserve his real life dignity. Hefner, on the other hand, has for decades come across as a decaying, diseased, corrupt old pervert, overdue for his meeting with his pallbearers.

Don Knotts was an intelligent and complicated man. He was a much better actor than he gets credit for, as most people remember only bits of his “Andy Griffith Show” role.
