Why Isn't Marco Rubio Getting Vetted for Vice President?

That's the electoral politics rationale, yes. But there's possibly another reason Romney was always unlikely to select Rubio: the sheer number of former Charlie Crist staffers on his payroll, who have already conducted opposition research against Rubio and know what it would turn up. And according to more than one consultant still engaged with the relevant parties, there's still a good deal of animosity at the staff level between these camps.

Does staff animosity toward a potential vice presidential pick sink their chances? No, but it does result in a staff more likely to point out a potential choice's defects to the candidate, which can help shift a once promising selection toward the bottom of the list. And now that it seems clear Romney's path to victory in 2012 runs through the working class of the Rust Belt, young Senator Rubio seems like a riskier choice with a higher upside... which has never been the type of approach Romney has made in his political career.

Per Romney himself, Rubio is being vetted.

Romney says Rubio is being vetted for No. 2 slot

Rubio has also published his autobiography at this specific time for the purpose of letting the media start vetting him now.

Why Isn't Marco Rubio Getting Vetted for Vice President?

Because he is a RINO and two RINO's on the ticket doesn't help pull another weak RINO over the finish line.

Today the Romney camp are saying Rubio is being fully vetted, FWIW.

If Rubio were to become Vice-President, is he qualified to become President if need be?

If the Republican party does not come down on Romney for even considering Pawlenty, they deserve to lose this election. Pawlenty is a loser.

Rubio is a natural born citizen!
A 2011 Congressional Research Service report stated
The weight of legal and historical authority indicates that the term “natural born” citizen would mean a person who is entitled to U.S. citizenship “by birth” or “at birth,” either by being born “in” the United States and under its jurisdiction, even those born to alien parents; by being born abroad to U.S. citizen-parents; or by being born in other situations meeting legal requirements for U.S. citizenship “at birth.” Such term, however, would not include a person who was not a U.S. citizen by birth or at birth, and who was thus born an “alien” required to go through the legal process of “naturalization” to become a U.S. citizen.[1]

"Rubio is a natural born citizen! A 2011 Congressional Research Service report stated"

LOL, I'm sure. Did it include a pdf of Obama's birth certificate?

Rubio is NOT a natural born citizen. Get real. Do you really want to push to open the door of the presidency to anchor babies? Think about it. Rubio gets in and ultimately gives amnesty to millions of mexicans that will NEVER vote for a conservative and the republic is GONE.

Read the tense. Not being vetted is present tense. That does not say Marco Rubio hasn’t already been vetted and does not say he won’t be vetted.

Typically a candidate will have a small group of trusted advisors do the vetting of potential VP candidates. That small group typically vets one or two potential candidates at a time.

If you think back to 2000, George W. Bush appointed Dick Cheney to head up the vetting committee. Cheney reported to Bush about once or twice a week on the progress of the committee, what it had learned about the strengths and weaknesses of potential VP running mates. Over the course of time, Bush realized that Cheney would make a good vice president and that Cheney’s past and present were well known as he had been a Representative, a Secretary of Defense, and a captain of industry. The progressives could only hammer him for having run Halliburton while failing to note that Halliburton pays great wages to its employees while providing first-rate energy and engineering services to the American people.

“Not now being vetted” is meant by the writer to deceive people into thinking he has not been vetting, is not being vetted, and will never be vetted.

"Per Romney himself, Rubio is being vetted."

Yes, Romney is saying this so the cubans won't get nervous and stay on board. Romney has no intention of putting rubio on the ticket. Can you imagine SNL? They'd have a little Rubio on romney's lap. just like quayle

As qualified as a Kenyan without a BC with a Kenyan dad.

This week Rubio totally outted himself as a foreigner with foreign interests. He even applauded the illegals invading our country, claiming he would do he same if he didn’t have any money while living in a foreign country.

We need to recover from that third world gutter, not join Rubio in there.
