“You may be an idiot”
Come on, why don’t we ALL refrain from name calling?
I have been guilty of it in the past.

I’ll start right now and lead by example.
(Maybe others could start right now, also?)
I will even add one order to those 11 General Orders I have memorized:
12. Respect those engaged AGAINST our common enemy, even though I may disagree with some small part of their philosophy, I will recognize the real enemy against our beloved Republic and align my actions to achieve this goal.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

I’ve noticed that despite the “Please: no profanity...” call for civility on the posting-comment page, there is an uncommon amount of vulgarity, name-calling, personal attacks — and surprisingly little respect here for contrary opinions. It will continue to repel thoughtful and courteous freepers and diminish the tone of the site.

But your comment is appreciated. The only good that comes from name-calling and foaming irrationality, is that once I see it I feel free to ignore the poster rather than attempt to reason with him.

Then there’s the folks who don’t seem to understand that posting one’s opinion on an opinion forum does not entail any obligation to elaborate, answer questions, accept essay assignments, or otherwise jump hoops at the whip crack of any anonymous poster who swaggers up with a random command.

Good luck cleaning the Augean forum!
