He then becomes President and sets about to replace the Government with normal people instead of worthless politicians by appealing to the public to appoint and vote for people worthy for the job instead of party hacks.

My favorite part of that book is how Ryan talks a “Wall Street Fat Cat” (who doesn’t want the job) into taking over Treasury, and the two of them make re-writing the tax code their domestic priority. And it works.
Not exactly the sort of thing you find in your typical spy novel.
BTW, I worked in the WTC and as soon as I read that book (which came out 3 years after the first WTC attack), I wondered when the Islamonihilists would get around to trying the “Planes Operation.” I remember sitting with friends at the outdoor bar at the World Financial Center in August 2001 and discussing whether the buildings were tall enough to fall on us at that location WHEN they finally got knocked down. All of us thought there was an SAM battery somewhere in the neighborhood with that scenario in mind.
