Mitt Romney’s legacy: No ‘Romneyists’
washingtonpost.com ^ | 11/13/2012 | Jonathan Capehart

In a New York magazine piece this week, Benjamin Wallace-Wells eulogizes Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign. The headline pretty much sums it up: “So long, Mitt: In love with America, terrified for its future, relegated to its past.” But in the final paragraph, Wallace-Wells made a good observation about Romney’s lasting legacy as the GOP nominee. “[J]ust a week after Romney seemed poised to become president,” he writes, “there is no segment of the Republican Party that could be called Romneyist.” That’s part of the reason why he lost.

Many times during the campaign, I slammed Romney for his ideological promiscuity. His flip-flopping was a character flaw that engendered mistrust among the Republican base and disbelief among the general electorate. As I wrote last month, politicians changing their minds on a core issue isn’t uncommon and should be respected. What Romney did during his six years running for president was change his mind on everything.

Romney’s change of position on abortion, gay rights, gun control, immigration, climate change, his own health care law — collectively, they called into question whether he had a core at all. They also made it impossible for those who believed in the former Massachusetts governor to point to anything he really believed in. That’s why there’s no discernible Romney philosophy from 2012 that will define the Republican Party for decades to come. That’s why there are no Romneyites.

I will be even louder than I was and tell everyone what “The Everyman” is, has done, has not done and what a double disaster he has been.

There are millions of "CINO's" who are registered Republicans and vote in their states' primaries. We can work on this fact, but we can not ignore it.

Then the statists have won and it's only a matter of time; the American experiment is doomed. Welcome to Ameritopia.

Thanks for the link.
It was worth my time, and I recommend it for anyone to watch.

The GOP's problem, and yours

First of all, I'm not a Republican, I am and always have been a registered Independent. You keep spinning, but you fail to put forth names of real conservatives that you believe could have won an election against Obama or one who will be capable of beating Hillary or whatever leftist twit the dims put forth in 2016. Why? .

"Your (now) thrice four times repeated attempt to steer discussion away from the epic disaster that was the GOP's lunatic, bucktoothed folles du Mittens -- and towards any other Republican and/or conservative actually NOT ultimately responsible for wholly and utterly botching the race against the Hugo Chavez of Chicago, with real unemployment whipsawing between 18-and-22% -- is noted, and (quite properly) disdained. Pointing a quivering, accusatory finger at Bachmann, or Perry, or Palin, or whomever-have-you does absolutely jack-all to mitigate the sheer, Krakatoan magnitude of the resulting shockwave from the entirely forseeable (and forseen) GOP/Mittens combination anti-Tea Party tantrum and electoral hari kari."

Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Yawwwwwwwnnnnnnn.

Only one registered Republican, in all the world -- with a six-year head start; hundreds of millions of dollars at his disposal; and a wholly supine conservative media (FOX, NRO, etc.) eagerly at his beck and call -- managed to L-O-S-E the single most utterly winnable presidential election in modern U.S. history. Anything useful (heck, I'll even settle for borderline intelligible, at this point) to contribute on that specific topic... or did you simply want to hop about like an over-caffeinated Rumplestiltskin some more?

If not... then: I think we're done, here.

thrice four times repeated

And you fail again to come up with any names of conservatives who you claim could have or would have defeated Obama, can you spinmeister?

So, that's a hard "no," then...?

Fine. Your call.

Anything useful:

Yon haven't provided anything useful yet. Apparently you are incapable of providing any names of conservatives you believe could have or would have defeated Obama or who could defeat the dim leftist nominee in 2016. Why is that?

To: Jim Robinson; All

Note to Romney/Ryan: Here are a small sampling of the REAL reasons that y’all lost:

Never questioned Obama’s place of birth;
Never questioned Obama’s reasons for sealing his personal documents and school records;
Never Campaigned from the end of the Primary until people started early voting;
Never allowed The Father of the Tea Party to be involved in y’alls GOP-Elite Campaign;
Y’all listened to y’alls sorry Harvard top campaign advisers;
Ignored Moderator Bob Scheiffer when he delivered the election to Romney on a silver platter with his question to him about Benghazi as the first question in the third debate;
Romney, as the Father of Socialist Romney’care’ ran against the Father of Communist Obama’care.’
Y’all NEVER ONCE went for the coup de gra’ce;
Every time that y’all got ahead, y’all relaxed and changed course;
Y’all kept y’alls advisors that had done a perfect job of designing a campaign to “LOSE AT ALL COSTS.”

Y’all are just another pair of loser RINOs.
Don’t run in 2016 unless you understand all of the above, as we damn sure won’t forget ANY of y’alls RINO blunders!

DUH! I’m surprised that y’all received as many votes as y’all did.

BTW, the only good thing that came out of y’alls Primary and General Campaigns was HOW NOT TO RUN A CAMPAIGN!

Romney lacked “fire in the belly.” I seriously doubt that he wanted to be President.

Tone of voice, pretty-boy smile, body language, choice of softball words, lack of follow-through on key issues such as the Benghazi Murders, etc., all indicated to me that he had better things to do with HIS precious time than to spend it running for President of the United States of America.

It is time for us to shun the typical RINO/GOP-Elite Campaigns Method of LOSE AT ALL COSTS.

“Whisper softly and then sit down” should be the motto of the Dole-McCain-Romney ‘Choose to lose’ Campaigns.
