The Pope has again condemned same-sex marriage and on Monday warned that it is a threat to humanity.
Speaking directly to international diplomats at a New Years address, Pope Benedict XVI acknowledged various economic and social factors that he says affect the world today.
"Policies which undermine the family threaten human dignity and the future of humanity itself," The Pontiff said, according to Reuters.
"The family unit is fundamental for the educational process and for the development both of individuals and states," he said. "Pride of place goes to the family, based on the marriage of a man and a woman," he added.
While gay rights activists have been working to legalize same-sex marriages throughout Europe, the Vatican has been vocal in condemning the redefinition of marriage.

>> Im not keen on gay weddings.
It ain’t about “gay weddings”. It’s about some BS concept referred to as “homosexual marriage”. Laws enacted to “protect” the BS are in reality devices to persecute those whom refuse to support homosexual behavior.
>> However, what is destroying America is heterosexual divorces, and people shacking up
Absentee fathers, unmarried parents, and broken homes no doubt contribute to the social decay we’re seeing and experiencing.
I’m curious about the role and responsibility of Adam Lanza’s “father”. Divorced 6 years ago. Adam was about 14 at the time.
>> Words are cheap, Benedict.
As illustrated by your criticism of a morally valid statement.
Do you disagree with the Pope’s assertion?
“Now, since the family and human society at large spring from marriage, these men will on no account allow matrimony to be the subject of the jurisdiction of the Church. Nay, they endeavor to deprive it of all holiness, and so bring it within the contracted sphere of those rights which, having been instituted by man, are ruled and administered by the civil jurisprudence of the community. Wherefore it necessarily follows that they attribute all power over marriage to civil rulers, and allow none whatever to the Church; and, when the Church exercises any such power, they think that she acts either by favor of the civil authority or to its injury. Now is the time, they say, for the heads of the State to vindicate their rights unflinchingly, and to do their best to settle all that relates to marriage according as to them seems good.”
—Pope Leo XIII 130 years ago.
He saw the danger of the state defining the institution for its purposes, but if you would have described the concept of state accepted ‘gay marriage’ to him, his mitre would have shot off his head like a rocket. It makes you wonder what judges, pols, or 51% of the voting public might consider marriage in another 130 years. Maybe a polymorous arrangement with your own sex-changed clones and a few human brains in animal bodies.

Arcanum by Pope Leo XIII is one of the most prescient things I have come across, two other big ones are ‘That Hideous Strength” by CS Lewis, along with ‘Humanae Vitae” by Pope Paul VI. Here’s another link, from the Vatican.
In my opinion it is doubtful that so many would accept impossibilities like ‘gay marriage’ if they hadn’t been conditioned to believed that the state defines marriage in the first place. To many it is simply a contract consisting of strictures and benefits from the state between any parties the state deems to give little pieces of paper, and can be broken and resumed as long as the state gives its OK. So they will accept whatever judges, pols, or the thinks marriage can be at any one time pretty easily, at least in the modern era.

Are the protestant churches that teach abortion and gay marriage are intrinsically evil issuing decrees to deny communion to politicians in their denominations that promote such things? It seems this step has only been discussed in the Catholic Church. I don't see the President of the SBC calling on pastors to deny "the Lord's Supper" to pro-abortion and pro-gay Baptists.
You are right on.
After seeing the previews before a movie this weekend,
(I haven’t been to a theater in YEARS),
I nearly wept for our lost civilization.
Apocolypse, witchcraft, and outright evil.
Yeah it’s about time somebody opposed homosexual “marriage.”
