A new study by the Frontier Lab, a conservative market research group, found that Republican voters who leave the party do so because they are are tired of being told to vote Republican as the "lesser of two evils." The study, "Switching Behavior: Modeling disaffiliation from the Republican brand," is published on the group's website and applies scientific methods of qualitative research to the GOP's most urgent problem.
Unlike the official Republican National Committee (RNC) "autopsy," which was prepared by consultants and political figures using familiar campaign-season methods such as focus groups and polls, the Frontier Lab study applied a specific methodology from market research, Behavioral Event Modeling (BEM), to understand the specific decisions of a sample of 97 Republicans who had chosen to leave the party in recent years.
Anne Sorock, author of the Frontier Lab study, writes that the RNC autopsy failed to provide "meaningful insights about how the Republican Party’s adherents are interacting with the brand as it stands." In an interview with Breitbart News, she expanded on her criticism of the RNC's self-examination, saying that the RNC's decision to use political consultants was "a perfect example of everything they are doing wrong."
The Frontier Lab study includes both conservative and moderate Republicans, and identified four key events that prompted individuals to "disaffiliate" from the party. One was the rejection of the "lesser of two evils" argument--the argument that voters had to support a bad Republican because the Democratic candidate would invariably be worse. Both conservatives and moderates are tired of the "two evils" argument, Sorock said.
A second event was a loss of hope in the Republican Party--a sentiment connected to the feeling that the party could no longer deliver on its promises because leaders had abandoned their principles.

Have to agree, Mama Dearest. If the GOPe is stupid enough to float any one of them—especially another Bush—I’ll have to vote for the lesser evil, which will be a new political party. I’ve studied the arguments for staying with the GOPe but if they pass amnesty and keep spending, a new party is the only hope the nation has anyway.

i was a republican for 33 years. I left when Boehner bent over and spread ‘em during the fiscal cliff fantasy. I joined the Libertarian Party. I’m not in 100% agreement with them but the honest consistency is refreshing. The GOP sucks.

I got a card a few months ago. I wrote on the card, “When you start supporting conservative candidates I will contribute to the RNC. Until such time I will instead contribute directly to the campaigns of conservative candidates.” I, like you, then sent the card back in the postage-paid envelope. Surprisingly, I haven’t gotten anything from them since. :-)
received a phone call from RNC this week asking why I have not been donating...
told them they left me a number of years ago and the few dollars I have to spare they won’t miss as I no longer support their ideas and they no longer represent mine.
I’ve voted Republican since I began voting at 18...I’ll always vote Republican or conservative..but never will I support the current RNC..
so come on leaders lets get a third party going...it is past time.
There are some, Ted Cruz being the best example. We need to support the ones like him who are fighting the good fight.

The GOP machine handed Obama TWO elections. He wouldn’t have been elected dog-catcher if it weren’t for the total incompetence of the GOP.
The House has been run by the GOP the entire time. What have they done to stop, or even slow, the train wreck?
The Senate has not passed a budget, but the house continues the unsustainable spending spree. Name one serious attempt at blocking something; Name one program that has been defunded; name one law that has been repealed; name one patriot that has been defended!

I’m finished voting for the lesser of two evils. I’m not doing it any longer. The GOP can go to hell. Until a third party evolves, I’m out. Yes, I know this essentially casts a vote for the Dims, but I’ll be damned if I’m forced to choke down teaspoonfuls of crap in order to avoid the tablespoon - you can’t pick a turd up by the clean end!

The relationship between the GOP establishment and true conservatives is much like that between a spoiled philandering male and his live in girlfriend. The girlfriend provides free benefits while the philandering boyfriend cheats on her and shows her no respect.
In real life the abusive boyfriend/girlfriend situation ends in one of two ways. 1) The girlfriend gets fed up and moves out making a better life for herself. 2) The boyfriend eventually dumps the girlfriend for a new and what he perceives as a new and prettier model.
The establishment (i.e. boyfriend) is clearly sending signals to conservatives (i.e. girlfriend) that he is openly making the moves on what is perceived to be a newer and prettier model. The decision for conservatives is do we continue to take the abuse or do we dump the GOP and create something better? Clearly voting to the lesser of two evils isn’t working.

I agree she would be the frontrunner in such a contest. However I also believe that the establishment Republicans, including McCain, has so damaged her image (not the visual one) that many Republicans or those who have just left the party would not follow her. Look at all the people who have questioned the antics of the Pubs lately. They have either given up or are pushed to the background by the Pubs to the glee of the Dims. But in politics, a day is an eternity and fate is fickle. So there is hope.
Would I follow her? You can bet your bottom dollar I would.
