How long after you “register the Tea Party as an official political party” until you have the same problem as all these other stupid political parties? Those in positions of responsibility in the centralized organization sooner or later worry more about what’s needed for its own survival than what best for America and the American people. That is why the Tea Party in uncommon wisdom has resisted centralizing into an official political party.
A decentralized political party ala the Independents might just be what we’re evolving toward. The major parties have proven to be nothing but destructive to the republic. Perhaps it’s time for the people to withdraw their faith from that whole institution.
Yes, the Tea Party was very wise to remain decentralized and local. Perhaps the same model should be followed in creating a political opposition to the major parties. I like to think of myself as simply an American who subscribes to our nation’s founding principles and traditions. I love my country and my people, and find the political arena to be a huge distraction to my expression of that love.
I’d much rather know what’s in a potential representative’s heart and soul, than make my choice based upon that person’s party affiliation. I believe that’s the key to Sarah Palin’s enduring popularity. People see her as an American first, and a politician second.
Maybe she’ll get out in front of this cultural evolution and call for an end to the sordid institution of politics altogether. Let men and women run for office standing on their own two feet, attracting supporters based upon what they espouse and believe in.
Dunno, but I think it’s a thought worth exploring.
