Charles Barkley: Zimmerman may have profiled, but I agree with the verdict

I have very specific and enthusiastic feelings about Charles Barkley. Whether he’s agreeing with my politics, vehemently disagreeing with them, talking crazy, talking smack, or just hawking Right Guard, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again— the man is a national treasure.

Sir Charles is, at turns, hilarious, genuinely thoughtful, and unpredictable in his views. He had something to say about the Zimmerman trial, and what I like about it, is it clearly comes from a man who a) actually watched the trial closely and b) is willing to go out on a limb with a slightly different opinion than some might expect him to have.

NBA legend Charles Barkley appeared on CNBC’s Closing Bell with Maria Bartiromo Thursday afternoon and shared his incredibly diplomatic views on George Zimmerman‘s acquittal. “I agree with the verdict,” Barkley told Bartiromo. “I’m sorry that young kid got killed, but they didn’t have enough evidence to charge him.”

Barkley admitted that he did see some “racial profiling” in the case, but said “something happened that changed the dynamic that night.” He recognized what he was saying was “probably not a popular opinion among most people,” but “looking at the evidence” he said he agreed with the jury’s decision.

He goes on to critique the media, which he says does not have a “pure heart” on the issue of race, ignoring racism in some while punishing it in others. “I don’t think the media has clean hands.” Me neither, Charles. Click to watch the whole thing:

Charles Barkley

If I were a mogul, I’d hire Charles Barkley and Dolly Parton to host a daytime TV show. A beautiful, nutty explosion of charm, y’all.

Update: Also, the greatest commercial of all time. “An astoundingly clear gel!”

Zimmerman may have profiled

That is what a smart person would do.

Jesse Jackson admitted “profiling” too.

Zimmerman profiled Tray because he was walking in his area wearing a hoodie talking loudly, zimmerman had no idea his hoodie was hiding a bluetooth headset and trey was talking to a friend on the phone. All zimmerman saw was a guy talking loudly to himself acting what he thought was crazy.

I haven read nor heard a more cogent cohesive short take on that fiasco,

” He added that he “feels bad” that the trial gave “every white person and black person who is racist the platform to vent their ignorance. That’s the thing that bothered me the most. I watched this trial closely. I watched these people on television talking about it. A lot of these people have a hidden agenda. They want to have their racist views, whether they are white or black… They’re biases come out.”

It made me “feel bad” as well. as in physically ill .

DIdnt SIr Charles run for some political office a few years ago?

t’s especially revealing when a black leader such as Jesse Jackson can admit being embarrassed when, walking at night and hearing footsteps behind him, he nervously looks back and then feels a sudden sense of relief upon seeing that the person behind him is white.

we all profile. people, situations,...FOODS....you name it.

If the DOJ has its way, it will become illegal to "profile." If you're white, anyway.

Profiling isn't a bad thing. Not profiling is.

Barkley’s white wife probably told him there was no racial profiling. Stay tuned. He’ll end up being interviewed again and say it was all about race. This guy is all over the map. A fat Dennis Rodman, without the tattoos.

Barkley hails from Alabama and said a few years ago that he would run for governor of Alabama. The media took him seriously, although I don’t know whether or not he was truly thinking of running.

At the DNC in 2008:

“So intelligent to listen to...he wants to uplift people,” Barkley on Obama.

I remember when Barkley demeaned Sarah Palin. Maybe he’s grown since then.

Last night, Barkely bought > 5 CASES of Corona beer for the crowd at Artie’s Party at the Harrah’s casino in Lake Tahoe.

I know, because.. I was there. I drank three of them. :-)

Thanks Charles! Sorry you hurt you shoulder and can’t play in the celebrity golf tourney. And, THANKS for your courage in going against the current of black thinking.

“probably not a popular opinion among most people,”

.

Among racist blacks no it’s not, but most people over all do agree with the verdict. You will not find too many Americans who think it’s a bad think to shoot and kill someone who is on top of you cracking your head open on the sidewalk after sucker punching you and busting your nose wide open.

The only people who don’t profile are the potential victims and people like Chris Matthews who has bodyguards that profile for him.

My latest theory? It’s no longer about “right or wrong” or “the facts”. They want Zimmerman’s head on a pike. It’s like the Zulus are fighting the Hutus or the Crips the Bloods. One of ours got capped and now we got to cap one of yours. That’s what this is at the current moment. “Justice for Trayvon”, translated, is we got to cap the cracker that capped one of ours.

You forgot the rest: "and if we can't have him, then we'll just take down some other cracker as payback."
