I’m no gun expert, and have not heard a 30.06 in many years, but at relatively close quarters, I’m sure it was loud and effective!
Had my 1942 Johnson at the range today... yep, the 30.06 is loud and effective...
You can be sure that nobody in that room when the ‘06 was fired could hear anything for hours.
