“The sun is actually pretty wimpy this solar cycle.”

Yes it has been. Which is totally out of character for each of the cycles in the past few hundred years they have been monitoring them.

They fail to mention that these CME’s are reverse polarity and our magnetosphere that protects us from the CME energy is decreasing substantially. We are approaching a perfect storm that can only happen every couple of thousand years.

RRR. For those of us who have studied the sun for decades, reports like this are disgusting. Excessive hype on solar events that are common. Solar activity during this solar Cycle has been lower than the Cycle of the late 1960’s (Cycle 20.) Cycle 19 in the late 1950’s was the most active in our lifetime. This CME is aimed at the earth, but the effect will probably be a visible aurora that may be seen as far south as the mid-Plains States. Keep your cameras ready this weekend, nice visual, if you are lucky to catch it. VHF ham radio operators will probably call CQ A on 50mHz and above. de that op in CN85uj.
