Secretary of State John F. Kerry and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel are scheduled to testify Tuesday before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senate aides said Monday.

The appearance by Kerry and Hagel will be one of the most public parts of an intense lobbying effort underway by the Obama administration to garner congressional support for a resolution authorizing U.S. military intervention in Syria. The lobbying campaign includes in-person briefings for lawmakers, phone calls and meetings at the White House.

Hagel has gone Neo-Con?

When does he resign in disgust?

"Hagel has gone NeoCon?"

No, he hasn't gone NeoCon, he is still a realist. Keep in mind that most or many of the Realists support intervening in Syria. They were opposed in 2011 and 2012 but gradually shifted. Obama hid behind the Realists' opposition but when they shifted, Obama had to shift also.

This article is about Senate Foreign Relation Committee in regard to bombing or sending missiles into Syria but back on May 22, 2013, the committee took a vote on whether or not to arm the Syrian Rebels. That vote came out 15 votes yes and 3 votes no. So based on that we can say 15 republicans and democrats said yes. Or, 15 NeoCons, Realists, and Liberal Interventionists said yes to arming the rebels.

And there were 3 republicans and democrats who voted no to arming the rebels. Or, two antiwar democrats(Wyden and Udall) plus the one republican isolationist(Rand Paul) voted no on arming the rebels. Not long after that republican Isolationist Mike Lee joined Paul, Wyden, and Udall in introducing legislation into the Senate opposing intervening in Syria.

After that committee vote was taken there was a lot of turmoil in Congress among many members of Congress over the issue of arming the rebels and it was never voted on in the Senate. Now the question is about lobbing a few missiles in.

Senate Moves Toward Arming the Syrian Rebels

Notice in the article it says that Corker had long opposed intervening in Syria but has now shifted. Corker, who replaced Lugar as GOP chairman of the committee, is the top Realist in the Senate.

Corker wants us to attack Syria...

Corker (or at least his people) have been very busy on his fb page. But every single post he puts up gets absolutely hammered.

amazing how much detailed info gets thrown your way on here .... by just asking a 4-word question.

Today’s Realist is tomorrow’s NeoCon.

And what does the Nixon Center think about Syria? Or have they gone off the beam of relevancy?

Your statement, Today's Realist is tomorrow's NeoCon, is interesting. Can you expand on that.

I recognize that a number of the Realists are questioning or rejecting "all in or all out". And they might be willing to put a foot or knee in but will not go waist deep.

I cannot expand. Yesterday’s Realists are today’s NeoCons.

Perhaps today’s isolationist worldview will be the one held by the NeoCons in the future ... and the country is forced to become less assertive in our foreign policy due to changes in circumstances.
