I'll take a moderate over a socialist any day.

Moderate Republican = Democrat Lite.

What exactly is the point of calling oneself a Republican, if all you do when elected, is vote with Democrats and forward their agenda?

Christie governs like a moderate Democrat. In that wise, he's not a Republican at all, except for his party affiliation. So I ask you, what good is he serving for the greater cause of what we conservatives believe in? What exactly are we gaining by having him in our fold?

Compare Christie to the Democrats in office across the river in New York (de Blasio the most recent addition). I'd say the folks in New Jersey are lucky to have him.

Rand Paul is nowhere close to a liberal, but he is smart enough to realize that it’s going to take more than just the Tea Party to win the big elections needed to take this country back from the Democrats.

You're one of those 'big tent' Republicans, aren't you? The kind of guy who's completely comfortable 'reaching across the aisle' to his 'friends on the other side'.

A little compromise never hurt anyone, right? I mean, that's how things get done in Washington, right?

Please tell your masters at GOP-e headquarters that that crap doesn't fly at Free Republic.

Maybe you can fill us in on all of the wonderful things that Chris Christie has done to improve the lives and protect the constitutional freedoms of the people of New Jersey.

Please tell us how he lowered their taxes, shrank state government, cut the over-reach of state bureaucracies, reigned in spending by the legislature, or any number of other things that any Republican would expect of a Republican Governor.

Please tell us how the lives of people in New Jersey are so much better than those of their neighbors in New York and other northeastern states. I'd really like to hear it.

We're not talking about governing. We're talking about winning elections. You believe in the 'big tent' theory, yet you call yourself a small government conservative. Explain.

Sure. We can Tea Party and sequester and use the blunt ax to hack away at our budget because we can control the House for a pretty good period of time.

The Senate, however, is where the long term savings are. It’s going to take Susan Collins types to give us the control we need to take the Majority, where we can then set the agenda in conjunction with the House, and bring our government back from the brink.

Prime example: Sharon Angle. She could pull of a House spot, but no way in a statewide run.

wasn’t it Susan Collins or her brood sister vote on committee that allowed ObamaCare to pass?

We do NOT need people like that

I’m completely done with, “the closest thing to a Republican” crap. Those who profess to be conservative, but are more closely aligned with libtards can KMA.

Reagan is dead. So are the millions of white, married Reagan democrats who voted for him.

The first election I voted in was 1978. Despite being raised by Democrats, I registered as a Republican for that election. So, the first Presidential Election I voted in was 1980. I was 21 years old. Reagan won in a landslide. He had huge numbers in all voting blocks, including the young Democrats (18 to 30). Are you suggesting that all those Democrats who were 18 to 30 years of age that voted for Reagan, not once, but twice, are dead? The problem isn't with the electorate, my friend. The problem is that the electorate hasn't been honestly informed by the media, nor elected officials from both parties, since Reagan left office. People who vote in elections today are casting votes based upon information that is inaccurate, and out and out lies. The problem isn't that young people are not capable of understanding what is at stakes. The problem is that they are fed lies. And, NO ONE in the GOP is doing a good job of countering the lies.

Are you saying all “conservatives” that aren’t northeast moderates are gay bashers?

Only your type of conservatism is gay friendly?

The “we don’t mind if our neighbor is gay” is no different than calling the rest us homophobes. Then you double down with the religious reference.

Conservative my butt...these are left wing talking points.

It wasn’t RINOs that achieved the 2010 “shellacking”.

Destroy society with massive illegal immigrants that don’t assimilate along with the left wing destruction of the nuclear family through “diversity” and using divide and conquer tactics and you won’t have any economic growth or freedom.

Reminds me of the stupid “I’m fiscally conservative but socially liberal” nonsense. People who say that can’t see how much of their social liberalism is destroying their fiscal situation through the ever expanding welfare state.

Huh? Susan Collins votes more reliably Democrat than Harry Reid. How do we gain control of anything by electing that type of "Republican"?
