I Want an American Baby! Chinese Women Flock to the U.S. to Give Birth
TIME ^ | 11/28/2013 | By Hannah Beech

Lured by U.S. citizenship for their children, thousands of Chinese women give birth annually in the States, supporting a thriving birth-tourism industry.

Jiang Wenjun was getting ready to go to America. His wife, due to give birth to their son any day, was already there. Like any expectant parents, the Shanghai couple agonized over how best to prepare for the arrival — and upbringing — of their firstborn child. American citizenship, they decided, was one of the finest gifts they could bestow. “America is the strongest country in the world,” says Jiang, whose son was born just days after he eventually arrived in California this month. “We want our child to have the best future.”

The U.S. is one of the few nations where simply being born on its soil confers citizenship on a newborn. That policy has spawned a birth-tourism industry, in which pregnant foreigners flock to American hospitals to secure U.S. passports for their babies. Although the foreign couple can’t acquire U.S. nationality themselves, once their American-born offspring turn 21 they can theoretically sponsor their parents for future U.S. citizenship.

Sickening.

But, then China's view of morality doesn't correlate at all with ours. Getting caught is the worse Chinese crime...nothing else.

And this is how communists and Nazis take over the US government. Only a natural born citizen can be president. Only natural born citizens WITH TWO AMERICAN PARENTS should be allowed to vote!

I’m sure it’s a future security risk across all Industries and Agencies. How many will end up becoming highly educated dual citizenship spies for the PLA?

It’s going to be tough to be white in the next half-century or so.

It has been a bit of a bonanza for Guam’s hospitals, with a constant stream of Chinese babies getting American rights. Not to mention a boon for the sluggish tourist trade as homes that should by all rights be vacant are being occupied by pregnant women in the last months of their pregnancy.

Sure, there’s been some ‘crack downs’ on all of this, with a few people even being charged with fraud, but for ever travel agent charged, another three are right there to book the next trip.

One of the biggest so called immigration reforms we need..is to end the right of citizenship based on place of birth. It needs to be based on parents who are citizens or legal residents of the US. Period.

“Sickening. “

Ok, why is it sickening. They are playing by the rules, playing by our laws in a legal fashion. and for the most part the chinese are model citizens with higher incomes, higher education and lower crime rates than caucasians.

What is sickening about it ?

“Another deadweight unpatriotic generation of leeches.”

The chinese generally have a better work ethic than the native born caucasians.

I think you meant to say “caucasians only”, no chinamen allowed, just like the good old days.

The interpretation of the immigration law allowing citizenship to a baby born on US soil of non citizen parents has to be changed as it is being abused by foreigners who have no ties to our culture & nation other than a foot over our border. A baby born here should have one citizen parent or at least one parent with legal residency [green card status] who is physically here at time of birth. These mothers dropping their whelps are looking for free benefits and are not here to pledge loyalty to our nation.

the chinese generally follow the US people as a whole

in 2004, they split about 50-50, in 2008 they went about 60-40 dem and in 2012, they went about 55-45 dem.

Now the caucasians did vote for Bush, McCain and Romney but the black and hispanics carried the day for Obama.

If you want to say the only true americans are caucasians, then the chinese vote dem. But if you compare with the all races as a whole, the chinese vote splits almost spot on with the eventual result.

One does not have to be born on US soil to be a natural born US citizen, as long as a parent is a citizen.

Really? Don't generalize. You haven't seen the Queens, NY Chinese ghettos. They are filthy, the people there never bother to learn English, all the signs are in Chinese, and they practice their old-country cruelty to animals. Their god is MONEY and how to amass the most. I have to tell old Chinese women to beat it when I catch them trying to raid my recycling can for bottles to redeem. I redeem them myself; who wants bum-looking strangers right up by your porch going through your garbage? Oh yeah, and then there's the "hotels" in very dubious places, like in the end of a cul de sac full of lumberyards and plumbing supplies stores. Obviously hot sheet "hotels" run by Chinese.

Of course, there are plenty of Chinese in Queens who achieve very high academic records in school, run above-board businesses and make good neighbors. But don't stereotype all Chinese here as "model citizens". You'll be first shocked, then disappointed.

this is what I said

“and for the most part the chinese are model citizens with higher incomes, higher education and lower crime rates than caucasians.”

I believe that statement is correct and I am talking about averages. Of course not every chinese is a model citizen. I am comparing them to caucasians.

There are many persons for their own reasons/purposes want citizenship to be a one-legged societal being. I believe the Founders who discussed the issue and voted to adopt the language of the Constitution did not believe such wording was short as to understanding the possible twist of their words and intentions in the future. With hindsight I believe that if the Founders had said/added ‘Period’ for the the stated future eligibility for a future POTUSA the requirement would have been in keeping with modern day expression.

The US government has been trying to deport a German family for quite a few years who came to the US several years ago because they wanted to homeschool their children and Germany wouldn’t allow them to do it. Since they came they have given birth to at least two American born children. These children are American citizens. How can the government deport American born citizen children?
