The really big ones that had things like refrigerators and washing machines in them were the best.
You could make your own “house” or “car” from them!
I was that age in Marin County, in the hills, with long, steep grassy hillsides. A box like that would’ve made a pretty decent sled.
That’s what we used them for, open both ends and
ride in the middle like a tank tred down hill.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
I noticed the absence of one of my nieces. She was about age 3 or 4 at the time. I walked into the kitchen and found her over in one corner. She had several of the empty boxes in front of her, as she built her imaginary city. She was having a ball with those empty boxes. She ignored the toy that had been them.
Our kids LOVED thos boxes, especially when we got a new frig in about 1991 and the kids were still very young.
I wonder where that was filmed. Very pretty country.
Filmed near Bergen, Norway.
A charming and fun film.
Those were the greatest — we made tanks out of them. You’d crawl inside the box laid horizontal and it would be just like caterpillar treads.
I loved that! Thanks for posting!
When I was a kid, they built an apartment complex behind my house. The day they delivered about 100 refrigerators and left the boxes out was most memorable. The boxes spent weeks in the backyard as fortresses.
