(vanity) Counting down to new KEIB 1150 Los Angeles
1150 Patriot ^ | 12/30/13 | raccoonradio

Posted on 12/30/2013 7:06:42 AM PST by raccoonradio

The website for progressive talk KTLK AM 1150 in Los Angeles now redirects to a countdown clock, for in a couple days they will become 1150 The Patriot with conservative talk. The new call letters will be KEIB, as in Excellence in Broadcasting. They'll have Glenn Beck (6a), Rush Limbaugh (9a), Sean Hannity (noon) etc. Clear Channel is making KFI 640 in a local-talk type of operation.

Progressive talk is now in tatters as they will lost stations in NY, LA, and San Fran. The NY station is WWRL AM 1600, which will switch to Spanish language programming. Also WOR 710 (Clear Channel owned) will pick up Rush, Sean, the Mets, etc. (Still no word on who the 12-3 host on WABC 660, owned by Cumulus, will be.)

It was said earlier in the month by Radio Insight that: "In San Francisco, Limbaugh will move from 910 KKSF to 960 KNEW. KNEW will drop its mix of Liberal, Business, and Advice hosts to go all Conservative Talk branded as “Right Radio“. Sean Hannity will move to KNEW as well from Cumulus’ 560 KSFO, while Glenn Beck will remain in mornings.

The Vast Right Wing conspiracy moves on. Again, conservative talk winds up on The Patriot KEIB AM 1150 in L.A. and 960 KNEW San Fran, and as libtalk disappears from WWRL 1600 NYC, Rush and Sean move down the dial from 770 WABC to 710 WOR.

Obama favors and appointed one of the pukes from The Center for American Progress and Free Press (they got a P.O. box somewhere?) as FCC diversity chief. According to the article they claim that it's not fair that conservative talk dominates. So they say it's free speech for us but not for thee.

Just search the "net for how Obama adopted the nudge theory and how his administration put great efforts into "nudging" us as advertisers nudge us into buying their stuff.

Cass Sunstein a university employee who held an important job in Obama's administration even likens it to libertarianism.. actually "paternal libertarianism" where Obama's government (the parent) presents us choices and we (the libertarians) are "free" to choose from among the options on that list -- with some nudging to select the correct one.

I recall the "silenced generation" and the decades of the "Fairness Doctrine" where one hour a week of Buckley's Firing Line "was all the fairness conservative opinion needed" in the electronic medium.

When modern talk radio began about 20 years ago the most oft-heard caller comment was: "I didn't know others believed as I do!"

I'd rather see civil war than to lose free speech.

Wow that’s a huge loss of coverage. Why move your stars away from a 50,000 watt flamethrower?
Put Shrill Handel on the weaksauce station.

"GOD DOESN'T WANT YOUR ONE-DOLLAR BILL, God doesn't want your five-dollar bill, your ten, your twenty. GOD WANTS YOUR FIFTY, YOUR HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL!"

Around 1980, I used to catch a black preacher out of Macon, GA whose sermons advertised his "Prosperity Kits".

"Now, brothuhs and sistuhs, Ah'm openin' yore letters...and there's no MONEY in theah. If you be wantin' yo' Prosperity Kit, you has got to put some money in theah."

"Always remember, brothuhs and sistuhs, NUTHIN'...gets yo'...NUTHIN'! But...SUMPTHIN'...gets you...SUMPTHIN'!"

Thass the way...GOD...works!"

Ever since, I've found that "NUTHIN' gets you NUTHIN'!" is a very useful expression of guiding philosophy...

It’s in some places, but in the past year taken off in Seattle, Portland, and Buffalo, all for sports (Fox, CBS,
ESPN).
In New England the only prog talk stations are a couple in Western MA, one in Brattleboro VT and one in Bangor ME owned by, horrors, Stephen King.

Great Predictions:
“In 5 years, we’ll be on 500 stations”
—Jon Sinton, Air America Radio, 2004. (They went out of business and maybe hit about 60-80 at peak.)

Hope they stay.

Some said that Clear Channel putting prog talk on its stations was a way to fend off the Fairness Doctrine. It wound up failing. But yes maybe “localism” is the new thing and every now and then I hear of plans to regulate radio similar to
Fairness Doc (which was really unfair).

Can the govt tell newspapers and magazines they have to present diff. points of view? No. The same should apply to
radio & TV. If there were a real fairness doctrine, you would wind up hearing conservative opinions on...NPR.
For them it’s “fairness for me but not for thee”.

1200/1430 Boston (now business radio, Spanish)
1150 LA giving way to conserv talk
920 Prov RI, Clear Channel changed WHJJ to conservative talk from progressive talk. “The Air America experiment is over,”
said the program director at the time.

Not sure--he may have nearby stations, but let's see. The following maps are APPROXIMATE:
KFI AM 640 daytime

KFI AM 640 nighttime

KTLK, to be KEIB, AM 1150 day

KTLK, to be KEIB AM 1150, night

Did Doug go back to being on the right? I loved him until he got Hollywooded into voting for Obama, and then shilled for him for the first months of his presidency. Anyone with wifi could have seen that Obama was not what he purported to be, many months before the election, but I think Doug was guilted into his vote and then supported his vote by standing up for Obama. I couldn’t listen any more. Used to really like him.

Keep in mind an AM signal further to the left on the AM dial may do a lot better than one in the middle or right. More importantly some stations have to reduce power and/or change direction at night to avoid interference. I think both 640
and 1150 are 50,000 watts but note the maps.

It was said Rush will continue to be on KFI for another week or so but they will probably frequently mention the new home of 1150 during that time...then it’s 1150 only

He’s annoying at times.

It’s the only thing on in the early, early morning when I’m driving to work. You take what you can get.
