If he wasn't a vegan & didn't job, how long would he have lived. R.I.P.

Was his half brother vegan too?
Sounds like a genetic predisposition to heart attacks in the family.

I doubt the veganism helped at all. Starving his body of protein, while subjecting it to the high demands of jogging, probably left his heart rather weak.

Men of that family, get your heart checked and whatever you do, stay out of that park! Reality doesn’t have to be fair or logical.

It is the telomeres!
I am saving myself for the nursing home experience. Feeding tubes, bedsores, twice daily diaper changes and bed rest!
I just fear Obamacare will take this option from me. And I have worked hard all my life!

Jim Fixx, author of The Complete Book of Running died at 52. His father, Calvin Fixx, was struck down with a heart attack at 35. Perhaps Jim's lifestyle -- he quit smoking and began running at 35 -- gave him an extra 17 years.

I once shared a cardiac ICU with a life long Triathlete. The man had spent his life eating right, exercising, competing in triathlons. No family history of heart trouble. One day he experienced chest pains. Had his wife drive him to the hospital. Went into full cardiac arrest upon arrival in the parking lot. Spent his time in the ICU glaring at me, a desk jockey with an inordinate fondness for whiskey, and lifelong dietary habit of black coffee and a hamburger for lunch, followed by a good smoke. Boy was he pissed.

What kind of supplements were they taking?
To: SMGFan
Ah, yes, the joggers, health food nuts and those that look like skeletons as a result of both and other ‘healthy’ attitudes do accomplish one thing.(MAYBE)
They die healthier than the rest of us???

Man goes to doctor and says Doc, you will be happy to know I gave up drinking, smoking, fatty foods, steaks, became a vegetarian etc.
