Thanks neverdem, I'm pinging this list because of this ridiculous demagoguery, which is now coming from beyond the grave:
The worst aspect of the Velikovsky affair is not that many of his idea were wrong or silly or in gross contradiction to the facts. Rather, the worst aspect is that some scientists attempted to suppress Velikovsky’s ideas. The suppression of uncomfortable ideas may be common in religion or in politics, but it is not the path to knowledge, and there is no place for it in the endeavor of science.
Sagan was one of the key suppressors who organized the trial of the star chamber in front of the AAAS, or perhaps more accurately, it was just one more work he had little to do with but took credit for, before he tried to deny his own culpability. He was still pushing the AGW BS that he'd appropriated and exaggerated at the end of his life; he used Saddam's war in Kuwait to claim that those 800 oil well fires would destroy the climate cycle in India and cause massive starvation.

There’s just no end to the damage that pot-soaked brain of his caused, is there?
Him and his ‘greenhouse effect’ - I hope he’s frying in it somewhere right now.
I’ve never seen a greenhouse spontaneoulsy combust yet, and Venus is still cooling.
That charlettan wasn’t an astronomer, he was an entertainer/celebrity.
If it wasn’t for Sagan, the entire global warming scam would never have got off the ground. And now they want to bring back Cosmos?
Would that be to indocrinate an enrirely new generation?
