Thank You Kathy! Is a wonderful thing to see your posts. I appreciate you always placing our Military first. Thank You!
Hi Everybody!
(((((HUGS))))
Well news is that Im coming home permanently at Thanksgiving. Im doing a month to month contract until then. Australia is a wonderful place but I miss home and friends too much. It was fun while it lasted and Ill have treasured memories to last a lifetime. I know Ill go back for a visit from time to time.
Evening, Kathy. The loss of heroic men — all this is making me cry.
Great job Star! Yup ladies, I really miss the Hollywood Heros. Glenn Ford was one of my favs. Ma, we’re real proud of Zach, Lord knows we need more dedicated, Christian young folks, I hope he’ll do his part.
The Hollywood veterans is an interesting list. Quite a few surprises too.
I would also like to see a list of athletes, coaches etc. who served. It would probably be difficult to compile but would be interesting.
Read: Mark 5:21-34
My sister and I were looking forward to our holiday in Taiwan. We had purchased our plane tickets and booked our hotel rooms. But 2 weeks before the trip, my sister learned she had to stay at home in Singapore to handle an emergency. We were disappointed that our plans were interrupted.
Jesus disciples were accompanying Him on an urgent mission when their trip was interrupted (Mark 5:21-42). The daughter of Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, was dying. Time was of the essence, and Jesus was on His way to their home. Then, suddenly, Jesus stopped and said, Who touched My clothes? (v.30).
The disciples seemed irritated by this and said, You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, Who touched Me? (v.31). But Jesus saw it as an opportunity to minister to a suffering woman. Her illness had made her ceremonially unclean and unable to participate in community life for 12 years! (see Lev. 15:25-27).
While Jesus was talking to this woman, Jairus daughter died. It was too lateor so it seemed. But the delay allowed Jairus to experience an even deeper knowledge of Jesus and His powereven power over death!
Sometimes our disappointment can be Gods appointment.
These threads are so fun and informative to read! I think some of their stories, like Douglas Fairbanks’s or Glenn Ford’s, would be better movies than some of the movies they played in!
Thanks, Galz for these and for the links to the previous ones for future perusing. :)
God bless you Kathy. thank you for these posts on FR.
So interesting to hear about John Ford’s service. The Rifleman: what an amazing show, great cast with the wonderful Paul Fix, pure, no compromise, righteous, morality plays with God front and center. No mistaking Good for evil on that show. And I just watched Gunga Din last month thanks to another post here on FR (thanks mylife). Good work as usual Canteen Crew!
