Who the hell is the IRS to be “striking deals” with anybody? If we had a real, honest DOJ, somebody would be doing some hard time turning big rocks into little rocks.
Title sounds like the IRS is hiring atheists to do the monitoring.
Clearly, unbalanced enforcement against white suburban churches but not against black inner-city churches which support Democrats is inequitable. One is tempted to say that there should be no restrictions whatsoever on churches engaging in political action but that opens the door to fraudulent churches created solely for that purpose. Another approach means going in the opposite direction: no church may enjoy a tax exemption if it engages in any political activity whatsoever. This, however, means that black churches will have to stop being organs of the Democrat party and it raises problems concerning a church's ability to defend its interests, qua church, on matters directly affecting them in their functions as churches such as hiring only believers. Churches should have the right certainly to engage in free speech and lobby in their own interests to survive.
Where does one draw the line between a church acting within the scope of its traditional role and political speech? Certainly the line should not be drawn by Lois Lerner's IRS. Nor should it be drawn by secret settlements to litigation between Lois Lerner's IRS and a left wing agitation group.
