Waiting for the CDC (Politicized CDC Purposely Botching Ebola Response)
New York Sun ^ | October 3, 2014

Are we the only ones who are wondering whether the next high-level resignation from the Obama administration ought to be the director of the Centers for Disease Control over the issue of ebola? Dr. Thos. Frieden, at every turn in his appearances — yesterday, when he went before the cameras for the first time about the Texas case, and since — has seemed determined to understate the problem where he should be sounding an alarm. Afterward his first broadcast, Americans had to turn to the Drudge Report to find out just how serious this threat is and what was happening at Dallas, where the first case of ebola in America had just been confirmed.

It’s an ironical situation. We have never been a fan of the Centers for Disease Control. It is a fiercely left-wing institution that is trying to infect the entire nation with nanny-statism. It sticks its nose into everything. Why are centers for “disease control” pontificating on motor vehicle safety? Are cars some sort of infection? What’s its mandate in “adult seat-belt use”? Or “child injuries” or “teen pregnancy” to name but a few of the issues that that it pontificates on but that aren’t diseases. Yet just when we need CDC to jump in and take the lead, it offers bland assurances that we will stop this disease in its tracks.

I guess most of us are used to seeing the fictionalized CDC in movies and on the tube where they quickly respond to disease outbreaks. So what happens in a serious REAL LIFE outbreak? Due to politics, they allow Ebola to spread by either not taking it seriously or refusing to take steps like refusing to prevent people from highly infected nations to enter the USA.

The FICTIONAL CDC would have a director like Tommy Lee Jones saying something like:

"I want the apartment area sealed off. Hazmat suits only. Disinfect immediately. Close all the schools those kids living in that apartment attended. Go thru the airlines list and contact and test everyone aboard the flights that Duncan was on. Oh, and no more passengers from ebola infected West African nations allowed to board any flights coming to this country. I want this done and I want it done like YESTERDAY!"

I called my governor to tell him to call up state resources to combat the disease at airports and even borders with other states.

I told him to dare the feds interfere with us. Will make Bundy’s Ranch look like a small event if feds threaten us TExans.

Liberalism is a disease. It destroys the mind.

We need to immunize our children to make sure they are not infected.

How? There is no effective vaccine.

ebola has been politicized because it is affecting mostly Africans, and we are supposed to be guilty and bring the disease into the USA to make everything ‘fair’.

They all screwed up from day one. ALLOWING a guy from Ebola country to fly into the US. A VERY EXPENSIVE hospital ALLOWING an Ebola victim to go home. ALLOWING civilians to clean up after an Ebola outbreak with NO PROTECTION.

NOT DOING A DAMN THING UNTIL 48 HOURS AFTER THE MAN WAS A CONFIRMED EBOLA VICTIM.

Complete and utter INCOMPETENCY!

There’s an aspect of this botched response that hasn’t gotten enough attention, IMO.

That’s the effect of excessive regulation inhibiting appropriate response.

There was a several day delay in decontaminating the buildings, sidewalks, etc. that may have been contaminated. This was because nobody had the proper licensing to go in and do the necessary work.

I understand the need for proper training and procedures, but not doing what needs to be done until all the paperwork has worked its way through the system is just insane.

I posted this earlier but this graph surely suggests that this outbreak is not anywhere near contained.

The game of Ebola Roulette continues...

*click* spin *click* spin *click* spin…BANG!

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!

Bring Out Your Dead

We’re gonna need

a bigger cart!

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Great point! In real life the director of the cdc says: "Call the White House and ask him how they want us to handle this politically...what spin does he want us to put on it?"

They have only been bringing in white Americans. They are leaving all the poor back victims to fend for themselves.

This guy fended for himself by buying a ticket out.

If he survives, we can expect a lot more victims will be buying tickets here.

The CDC has been politicized, just like everything else the Kenyan Commie has had a hand in. I believe he wants an outbreak in order to quarantine the state (Texas) prior to the mid-term elections. I believe he would try anything to stop or postpone elections nationwide. It’s way past time to stop giving him a pass based on the color of his skin. Make him accountable for his actions. His deck of race cards is full of Jokers. Time to IMPEACH!

“I called my governor to tell him to call up state resources to combat the disease at airports and even borders with other states.

And the result has been? I’m still waiting. Nothing. Crickets.

Gov. Good Hair had an opportunity to exhibit some leadership starting on Monday.... he has not done a damn thing. He is just another politician.

He blew it again. He had a chance to show that he is presidential material and he cowered. Same thing for his border initiative with the National Guard. What’s up with that?

The response to this mess has been a nine line, free-fall, cluster flop at all levels.

It looks to me like Texas is still full of noting but BS and high-living.

And you pay good money for that? Do you really think it is worth it? Is is that good a school?
