Meteor would have same effect as a nuke.
Minus the fallout though.

The meteor would cause a bright light, but only for seconds vs whatever a nuke would provide, on the order of minutes or longer. I’m not sure how long the glow of a nuke does last at night.

I agree on the issue of fallout.
